So….Monday evening I tore into it.

New air bags, new torque arms, new bag crossmembers, new brakes on the lead axle, Centrifuse drums on both axles, new drive tires, moved the old drives to the trailer.

Pulled the spacers out from between the C springs and frame brackets, built new, shorter bag crossmembers, redrilled the trac bars mounts higher on the frame, new extended upper shock mounts. With air in the suspension, the rear bag is extended 1” more than the lead drive axle bag.

Prior to these modifications it was almost 3” height difference between the bags when at ride height, and the shocks on the lead axle would bottom out when you dumped the air.

Now the shocks are 1” from fully compressed with the air dumped.

2” stroke air cylinder on the leveling valve arm for overinflate. I might switch it to a 3” stroke if I decide I need it.

Our oldest son helped Tuesday and Wednesday, but I’m about give out…and I still haven’t touched my a/c. :)

That frame height in the post above is at the rear axle with no air in any of the suspension IMG_0652.jpeg

@Oldman83 Let me know how those air bags hold up. I tried them on my trailer lasted a week.

Did you have trouble with them?
I put the Torque brand air bags on my steer axle when I did that retrofit August 2024. 70,000 miles so far, and they’re doing fine.
