"Call it what you will..but I'm pretty sure those logging into this thread to find intelligent information on a particular truck company before applying with them, sure do appreciate sifting through most of this mindless dribble that seems to have taken over. I'll leave now so those of you that feel a need can jump all over this. Good luck in all your travels, and may the company you are with treat you well so you may never have a need for a thread such as this....

just an fyi this morning I watched an independent owner op back over the hood of a long nose Pete. He told the cops he has been driving for 20 years so do we put all indepents in the same box? I understand many of the Swift drivers are new and big companies make big targets, but I'll bet some of you have worked for companies that you are not exactly proud of. me personally I like swift it works for me, if its not for you that's ok but it doesn't make me a bad driver. like everything in life we all have different ideas different opinions and thats what makes life great in these united states. I fought for that right and I will continue to fight for that right until they plant me.
JustSonny Thanks this. -

I have liked SWIFT alot till recently. Read my other posts. I try to be as honest as possible, But lately they have been getting real weird with me and other drivers I know. Points have been touched on, Like the lock down of the building in Phoenix. Hell I send a mac 6 and it can take 45 min to get my next plan. Than if I message them they message back hold on give us time. Yet its already attached to me. Just need the load assignment. -

I worked with Swift for a few years, left for a few years, came back and worked with them again, and then left again. I'll tell you that is one company you'll never have trouble finding a job with.
Thats a bunch of bull, how some of the staff would try and scare the employees who wanted to quit, saying "If you leave you wont be able to come back" They'd always try to plant that in your head.
My experience was mixed at times I hated it, at others, it was great. When I left the first time I was making good money, probably better than most company drivers. The second time I came back, I was forced to enter a Lease Op and got screwed.
The company really knew how to screw their employees over when you got on there xxxx list. I guess I could say that I have experienced worst. Whats the deal with these DM'z? They can't stand working with drivers or what? It seems to be international , not just Swift. It's a must for them to mess with the drivers cause we might actually be making a little money. That in its self would be a little to much for a small minded person to handle. All you have to do is look around this site. That's why this forum is so much bigger than those who post threads about their favorite companies, those ###### brown-nosers. Next week they'll be over here, crying about how they're not on the patsy list, and how 'they' got screwd.
But I'd haft to say I've met some real good people at Swift, probabely some of the best and most intellectual people I'll ever meet. I'm not trying to defend the company, it's a fact. Dont get me wrong, they got some real shallow ones as well, I wonderd how some of them got their CDL's. They should've of been on the handy cap bus rather than in the big truck. Come on! I guess when you have a company so big, you're always gonna have a few.
Swift took care of me when I left though. They closed the deal right(escrow account) and returned all the money that was owed to me. On top of that, they promised me a place to commback too if I decided to do so. Word to the wise, never burn your bridges, and never listen to the blind, bad for the dac,and hard on the mind.

I would love to know how you were "Forced" into a lease?

If you need a job bad and have experience. The only way to get on with Swift sometimes is by being a L/O.

As reported in May 2010 issue of Land Line Magazine. Swift received a grant from the Port of LosAngeles for $8.4 Million towards the purchase of 412 trucks This was help remove older, more polluting trucks from the port.
Over the past year most of the trucks had used the port one time!
Swift may accept a $4000 penalty per truck. As for only having to pay back $4000 for each $20,000 received, -Bernie Madoff would have loved that deal. -
