    That was sometimes due to the way the head gasket was made or the material. A lot of John Deere engines were that way till the 40 or 50 series come out. Then they updated the gasket design for the older stuff and the retorque was no longer a thing. Not saying yours is in that category just a possibility as to why

    For me depends on what I’m working on and what they look like. And how they torque. A stretched bolt has a feel you pull like hell and the wrench won’t pop. So many things are torque to yield these days and require new bolts.

    It's definitely interesting working on the older stuff. Seems like all I work on lately are tractors from the 70's up to the early 2000's.

    No i suppose not . Although i did see a vid on a marine application but was refered to as a 19L kta .
