Cummins Engine Identification help please

I have to go to bed so I can get up at eight tonight and go back into work so it’s no rush. I mean whenever you find out is fine because like I said, I wanna pull the oil pan off the new engine and at least put a rear main seal and the oil pan seal back on it gasket and look at everything as much as I can before I transfer the engines out and then I got a buy a clutch and throw out bearings and all that stuff because I wanna put all that new when I put it back in together.

 

I’ve got a dozen old pumps on a shelf that the tags on them do not match the calibrations of what they came off of. Unless it is still 100% original Those tags generally mean nothing over the years of tinkering, fixin’ and swapping these engines get. Ive got a sc 250 non turbo with a bc pump on it. Tagged for a formula 350. Lol.

 

You guys can continue on with the debate and the opinions and the information and to help trust me. I’ll read it all when I get up tonight again I can’t thank you all enough

the bummer part of all this is is a so hard to find a Cummins mechanical mechanic.
I know they’re out there, but they’re retired or they just don’t wanna mess with it anymore. I wish I could find one that I could pay to teach me everything they know.

 

Also, if anybody has a cool inexpensive idea on a cradle/ stand that I can build to put this small cam on in my shop so I can roll around and work on it and yet keep it out the way

 

Think CPL 695 is the 400 Magnum small cam engine from what little info I found. I don’t know if the parts are still available but sure they are somewhere. Call around and see if that CPL comes up… be your next bet versus a good 350 with pump work and injectors. Good pump will surprise you…

Yes but… the small cam 400 was CPL 695 from what I’m finding,

So, if you ordered a rebuild kit for CPL 695 you could build it directly as a 400 instead of a hot 350….

 

Keep in mind you may have to change the offset key on the camshaft gear too to change the timing.

You don’t just add fuel and create a 400 engine, there’s a lot involved….

 

Pump shop called back and confirmed your pump is calibrated for a 350….
