i have offers from RTI and Hirschbach, both sound ok,but i decided on RTI,i'd much rather a 4 hour plane ride than a 600 hour bus lol
but other than the transportation there,RTI seems solid,i'll post to keep up with my career there!

I know the exact area you are in..and yea you would think more opportunity there.
I never had much of a problem getting out..(sometimes company wanted me to come off hometime early) getting in was more of a challenge..
Shortly before I left they were getting a little fussy about where I lived.
Not sure how long you've been looking or where.
www.careersingear.com might help..but our downfall is where we live..
Not sure I care to move for a trucking job..though many have..economically speaking not a good idea for me.
Just put an app in with FFE..so will see...time, money and options getting short..and frankly speaking just getting tired of searching....Best of Luck to ya.. -

Hey Skunk Truck..
Can I assume that you are still with FFE...
'Cause I just put in an app. with them..
I'm up here in Mid-Michigan not many companies touchin' this state with a 53' trailer at least not very far..hiring wise..
If you are still with them got some questions..so if you would,,let me know..Thanks and hang in there buddy... -
theres a reason for not driving for someone huh...bad roach coaches and cheap drinks lol
-
they asked what to expect at orientation. Lies, bad food, and cheap drinks is about it. I have plenty of other reasons not to drive for FFE, but that isn't what was asked about now was it?
-
everyone always has a good excuse not to drive for someone, that's all these threads contain..every company someone has to bellyache about one thing or another..i posted 1 company in my career i absolutely hated..i see alot of familiar faces on different companies posts...

FFE s the only company I drove for, but I am a 3rd generation driver (or was while I drove, and I left voluntarily to find more suitable employment for my physical traits and lifestyle). My main 2 complaints with FFE were the way my first tractor was, and the problems I had with payroll. The first tractor was an 07, which looked to be in perfect condition, but had an electrical problem. I spent many mornings dragging out the jumper cables and jumping my rig off with the reefer unit, I was in the shop 3x in 3 months getting batteries replaced, but they would only replace 1-2 at a time. Finally, on the 3rd time in the shop with the same problem they replaced all of my batteries. Still a few weeks later I was just south of Atlanta when that hard freeze hit, I had the opti-idle going and when I came back from showering and supper the truck wouldn't start. FFE told me that a mechanic was en route, and I HAD to stay with the truck. A mechanic finally arrived at 0630 cst and was unable to find a problem so the next thing they tried was a pull start. This of course required a wrecker be called out, and guess how long that took since GA was covered in ice..... Anyways after this incident (2 more times that day I had to be pull started) I was put into a 09 truck which ran beautifully.
As far as the pay it was always accurate for the miles I ran. However, I had to fight tooth and nail with payroll anytime I was due layover pay (at least 1-2 days a week), or I had work done on the tractor or trailer. The fight over pay ended up being the straw that broke this camels back. I don't mind busting my ### for a company, and I believe in "riding for the brand", however, when the brand refuses to treat you right it is time to find gainful employment elsewhere. -
sorry your experience there was bad,i know what you went through in a way..i don't know much about FFE ,except the fact they hired me for orientation,i see some bad on here and some good,i didn't make the jump yet, still weighing in the bad and good from all the companies i applied to

I will be honest with ya, while I and 5 of my orientation buddies had bs from them, I know of other drivers who have made a career there. It's like every other starter/bottom feeder some will have great experience and some will get the short end. Goodluck whichever way you go.
