We can sit here and cherry pick exceptions all day but you and I both know that's not the norm. The SOP is trucks using anything left of far right as their personal travel lanes.
Tight rest area parking

Everything is a video game these days.
Mass shootings? Call of Duty or some such game.
Using a car as a weapon in a crowd of people? What video game does that resemble? How many points for the old lady on the corner?
Our government is one big video game of Mi Sim imPossible, where no two sides are ever allowed to agree on even the slightest detail unless it results in a stalemate.Lonesome Thanks this. -

A woman died just from driving her car on the highway. 1 in 8 billion, and she was the one to get hit by the rock thrown from some creep on the overpass getting his kicks.
Never scoff at the odds, because you could be on the losing end of those odds.
And the odds are increasing these days, as fewer and fewer people even care and get their joy from being reckless and violent.
I don't know how old you are, but I am 69.
This kind of stuff simply didn't happen when I was in high school.
Mass media and internet aside, it still would have made the papers and the national nightly news. Some of us actually remember newspapers.Last edited: Jun 4, 2025

When utilizing rest areas, I always get on Truckers Path and read the review or just look at the ranking. If it’s 2.2 or under you can bet it’s gonna stink. It’s going to have lousy parking like this place. Truckers in general don’t care about amenities that much when it comes to a rest area, we just want open parking with room to get in and out. And plenty of it. I have found any rest, stop that ranks under a 2.2 on the truckers path scale is going to have super tight parking or crappy curb parking only. Once it gets up to like 3.5 or above it’ll be wide open parking with easy in and out.
