I work for a company that has driver cams and get paid what you would call poverty wages but I still have averaged 1300-1500 a week after taxes because I put my head down and work my ### off.. the cameras are there to protect the company when some insurance scammer tries brake checking you for no reason to get a payout. Which happened to me a couple days ago. Luckily I did not hit them. It is also there to protect you when you get in a wreck that was someone else's fault and they will be able to see you were not speeding and not distracted. There is full proof of it.
When I get back on the road on my own I will be putting a driver facing cam in my own truck.. I think they are as important as putting fuel in the tanks now....

You blame everything and everyone of why you can't make money or have a house, but the whole time the real problem is in the mirror..

I met a driver last year while loading Crush cars at a scrap yard in stockton ca. guy had lost everything in life, his wife and young daughter were living in the truck with him, since that was all they had left. I figured as a man he decided that was better than living on the street and I respect that. he was still pushing forward in life, trying to make it work and put some money together running his business..
dude was one of the friendliest and down to earth people I've met and we only started up a conversation because he came over to offer me a helping hand because he seen I was struggling throwing my securement. When we started shooting the #### it almost brought a God dam tear to my eye hearing this dude tell his story, and it was never woe is me and the world is against me.
People like that always give you a reminder that there is a path forward no matter how hard it may be. According to you he should've just given up on himself and his family just because things weren't working out for him at the moment, and adopt a piss poor attitude towards everything and everyone.

I agree with most of that. But you are not making a distinction between driver-facing, and front facing . driver-facing doesn't show what others are doing, just to make the driver behave.

End of the day companies don't care about you nomatter how long you've worked for them, its about how much I can get for myself and in this economy you need to do whatever you have to to get the extra money, you need to demand it, most of the drivers here have an awful "it is what it is" mentality and like that you work for 30+ years before you ever make anything real in life, which isn't what im looking for whatsoever, im trying to work and get a house, SUV and a semi truck in 5 years or less, that's about realm of $600,000 on the low end

If i continted with the mentality everyone says I should have id continue to rake in $500-$800 a week and work like that for the next 30+ years have nothing to show for it and say that's living a good life the advice im getting sound like its coming from people who have never had more than $100 spare cash in their pocket in their pocket and are happy playing with sticks and stones living in a tent or the homeless shelter for their whole life

The entire point is profit not just working hard for nothing if you just work that garbage job and dont expect proper compensation, then i got a job for you as my doormat i can offer

Im here for profit, im here to work hard if im compensated properly, i could likely rake in more miles than anyone here if my dispatch, planning or operations departments weren't fully incompetent because ive already shown i can pull 3000-3600miles a week on dedicated accounts away from the east coast city garbage or even just running miles west of I75 OTR

I know what im capable of, I know i work hard and what im paid fully determines how seriously im willing to take a job because im in no way motivated to haul freight at 50cpm or less and they clearly have no intrest in driver retention especially with no benefits, no vacation or PTO, God awful time off policies, companies refusing to do 401k match and on top of all of it they wanna stare at you all day over a camera and try to fire you if you brake hard or change the radio station once

if youre a good boy and truly kiss your carriers ### you get a massive 1cpm raise a year up to a maximum cap of likely 55 to 58 after several years

Like the old saying goes you get what you pay for

I might take a 55cpm job seriously but anything less than that id just laugh because anyone who thinks that's good work is more delusional than that company expecting good drivers to come, theres a reason these companies have turnover rates as high as they do. Can you guess why?

Its because most of the sub par carriers have already factored into their buissiness model that they dont care about you

So no id rather not work for free the rest of my life I have 0 commitments, no money obligations and next to no debt, no wife or kids to deal with, no rent, no car payment plus I have the full willingness to be homeless than waste time working for free and 50cpm isnt even enough for me to live off of save enough to reach any goal with as much as it costs just to eat on the road

Only reason I'll take a 50cpm job is a temp while im hiring on somewhere else making phonecalls every day looking to leave

And I definitely wouldn't wanna have a camera on me at those low pay jobs because im making phone calls to recruiters all day just so I can quit

Ive struggled enough and fact is i dont care enough to waste time at something dead end just to "push forward" if I cant make at least 80k a year at a trucking job doing a truly average job i believe it will never be a long term position, if im working hard I should be making 100k especially considering i dont take home time im in the truck at least 48-50 weeks a year

Its also a pretty laughable thing that this industry demands "time with company" given how volatile the freight market is, you go where the money is and how poorly most carriers treat drivers they expect people to stay and deal with it? HA that's funny if I get 3-4 weeks in a row sub $1000 after taxes im out

I had a friend who had that attitude. He bombed out in the navy because he couldn't get along. Whereas I stuck with it. He bounced around job to job because he'd say " I'm a man, and I'm not taking #### from no one.we are both in our mid 60s now and last I heard, he'd been a career pizza delivery guy. Sometimes you have to swallow your pride

You are not a very patient person. You mentioned all of that material stuff that you want.....house, SUV, semi truck of your own etc. All of which are very expensive. It doesn't matter about how much cpm you make. To get all of those things requires grinding for years. I'm not sure why you think making 60 cpm will all of a sudden make you well off. If the company doesn't have the ability to keep you busy, then that high cpm is meaningless. You say you got to demand the money you want, why do you think you deserve it? Sure loud talkers get rewarded in our society, but in trucking, your actions get rewarded the most. If you paid attention to anything I've said on here, then you'll know my formula for success in this industry:

Availability + Reliability + Adaptability = Longevity.

I've seen some of your posts in previous threads. From everything you've put out there, you've done nothing to qualify under any of these. You're not being available to companies who will hire you. Strike 1.

You admitted in another thread that when you worked for WEL Companies you were late on loads repeatedly. You also admitted that you're incapable of making money if you have to run east of Kansas City. Well.....the heaviest demand for solo freight is in the east. What's a company supposed to do with that? That makes you unreliable, and also not adaptable, which segues to my next point. If you are only waiting for your so-called high paying company to come along, rather than adapting to the fact that you have 2 tickets, job hopping issues, and a bad attitude, you'll be waiting til Judgement Day.

Oh by the way, while you're waiting for this perfect company to come along, your money is getting depleted. You ain't going to make 300 bucks begging forever, folks will start to remember your face and tell you to #### off.

Also, while you're waiting for the perfect company, that's more time out of the truck that you're wasting. Then you'll either have to take a refresher, or worse, start all over.

Oh yeah, all that material bull #### that you want, until you're willing to take that long hard road, it's only going to elude you. You want it all in a hurry, and there's no fast way to get any of that. Anybody that's made good money, all had to deal with BS. I did, as well as all of us.

So......now that I've got that off my chest, people ain't gonna give you what you want because of your life story. Nobody cares. This world ain't a nice place. One has to learn to like the taste of #### in order to advance in life. You're asking all of these companies for a job, they're not asking you. So your opinions about the pay and all that don't matter. If you have any companies that'll take you, get the ball rolling on your dreams. Don't come back on here fussing til you do just that.

Available? im willing to spend the next 2 full years in the truck without a single day off, you cant tell me that alone shouldn't be getting companies to say yes right off the bat, im here to work and make money if im making money they make money, period not my fault they demand favors wanting drivers to run 200 miles on a full clock up and down east coast cities, they can eat it for all I care. Find another sucker to haul for free while spending more money daily just to eat, bad enough I deal with California because I much prefer west coast, even at 55mph im still making more running Cali than I ever have running east coast

I know companies have plenty of great available freight for dry van, refrigerated and tanker thats all solo freight in the western United States and BC ive run plenty of it and even ran exclusively western US for a time so its there and I truly dont care what the company wants if im not making money I know they're not it hurts me and hurts the company so in this scenario still better to stick with what I know I'll make the miles on so I dont know why they'd want to hard pressure me to stay eastern US especially when I'm first in line to complain the moment they cant get my miles and I outright refuse anything on I95/northeast I77 and east is pretty much my complete no area

"Perfect company"?
60-70cpm, dont steal from me, dont short me, dont shove short runs and northeast cities down my throat and dont hand me "just in time" freight with less than a 3 hour margin that if I hit any traffic im gonna be late its not hard to plan loads i could replace these office jockeys and do it myself easily, ive done it before ive had opportunities to select my own loads several times its not hard to know what I can or cant take, trip planning is so ridiculously easy that it genuinely requires almost no planning

As for my plans Ive even had backup plans, I kinda gotta figure out what im going to do once I get $200k-$300k in the bank and wether i want to even stay in the US and is the money good enough for me to live long term here or should I cuts my losses and go with my backup plan to live somewhere with a lower cost of living and buy a house and everything I need with my savings

Material things dont exactly matter to me, I have a few hobbies, I expect some entertainment to be available when needed, I want a sporty vehicle to off road or take to the track, im really 2A and I like gaming.
Im out most of the year so I want something to occupy me apart from working so I dont genuinely go crazy working myself to death and have some variety

As for job hopping yet again worked for one carrier for just under 2 years, 2 for 8 months the other 2 were stints that were obviously "yeah this isnt gonna work out"

This is exactly why I want my own truck at some point so I dont answer to anyone, never have never will, and id gladly die by that

You are competing for jobs with drivers that have a steady work history (not job hopping) and no tickets. You already stated you can't drive a manual transmission.

To be brutally honest you want the top paying jobs but you don't bring anything to the table that qualifies you for them.

Yeah i insist on having a front facing camera and have turned down a brand new Peterbilt because it didnt have the cameras installed yet (glad I did bc the 2023/2024 Pete's are garbage in my opinion, they gave me one later, told em i didnt like it, got my old 2021 back for a while then moved to another 2021 with less miles

Besides the pointless story though I love outward cams and have had em save me a couple times and allowed my company to call police on a few brake checkers and people who had hit and run me while I was parked

Inward facing is an AI monitored babysitter that tells me the company has 0 trust in their drivers

But.......no company wants you. So you have no leverage. Anyway, you don't have an understanding of the industry or of life. Like I said, when you decide to bite the bullet, rehab your career, that's when you should resume posting. I think I speak for everyone when I say your entitled attitude has rendered this thread pointless.
