Chicken and waffles have a long and interesting history.
Every culture across the globe, has some form of fried chicken. The process is pretty simple and universal.
Frying foods in large quantities of boiling fat are documented in Roman cookbooks.
With time and adaptations, the version of today is a long way from where it started.

 

Whatever, chicken and waffles don't belong on the same plate.
Nor do asparagus, broccoli, and that other #### that I hate.

All I know is everyone acts like it’s a southern delicacy. I had never heard of it until maybe 10 years ago on the food network. Much like Juneteenth. Everyone acts like it was celebrated all over the south. Again I never heard of it until a few years ago.

Chicken and waffles as far as I know was invented in NYC at a soul food restaurant. The only connection to the south was the owner was from NC I think.
