Dang .. never knew they got up that far... the western diamondbacks we get at the house have alternating white and black stripes right below their rattle. Sometimes that's the first thing u see since they blend in so well with the dirt

I think so. I just acquired it recently and haven't seen any tags on it, but it's in a Grove R58 crane, and that was one of the engines offered in them.

Tag will be on the side of the valve cover, if it’s not been removed. They slide out of the holder so hopefully it’s still there. If it’s a 53 it should have bolts along the outer edge of the valve cover….

I'll take a closer look tomorrow. I think the only other 53 that I've been around was in an old Wabco blade. That was in the early 80s.

That was truly a SWAG (Scientific Wild ### Guess). We head south from Holbrook on 377, and down through Payson, when we go to Scottsdale. That's one of the more enjoyable stretches of the trip, for me.

Beautiful country for sure. Right where u turn off the 277 onto the 260 in Heber. I used to live about 35 mins south of there in show low. .. if u ever get some extra time next time thru there, stay on 77 from holbrook down to pinetop/lakeside area. Cool little town, some good fishing, golf courses, off road trails, car shows. Alot of people from Phoenix move up to those parts in retirement. We used to rent a cabin up there for a week every summer to get out of the heat... the only downside is that 260 highway has gotten quite dangerous in the last couple years during the summer months
