This is the last 15 speed I have driven/owned and it was the late 80’s. It was powered by a 444 Cummins which was a large motor at the time. I don’t hear much about a 15 speed nowadays. I have an 18 in my current rig and probably could have gotten by with a 13, but I wanted an 18. IMG_5154.png

Thank you sir. I'll check it out. I've always had a regular ol' split 10. So I regurgitated what I was told by the seller. Again, thank you for the information.

My little brown truck is a 91….gotta 4 an a quarter with a 15 over and 3.36’s on tall 24’s. I run 9th on the skinny roads and 10th out on the big road. It’s by far a large car but does what I want it to do. It’s comfortable at 80 which is too fast if you’re steady.

The small company I work for has 2 1994 Peterbilt 379 with 15spd transmissions. One has a 15 over from the factory behind a 3406C but the other one has a 15 direct behind a 3406E that was swapped by the previous owner because the Super 10 sucks.

The 15 over is a .79 over drive. The older 13’s were .87 so the 15 was a taller transmission. The later 13 and 18 from around 95 and up are .73.

The reason the 15 fell out of favor is engine manufacturers wanted to run lower RPM at cruise that 6 percent was enough to get them there. The 15 is king behind a B model when geared to cruise at 15-1600. The E model and Acerts especially will cruise lower than that. I personally don’t but lots of people do with no ill effects. That’s kinda a short easy to understand explanation it gets a little more in depth but gets boring as well

I think I passed you this am (Sun 6/29) on 495S in VA at 8:35am right before RT 66. I was thinking that rig looks familiar and it said Double Run Carriers.
