Wow.. are you writing a booK? Cuz it was so long I was bored after the first sentence.
And everybody who steps in a truck for the first time is a newbie no matter how many endorsements you can brag about.

Suggestion: get thicker skin.. a little constructive criticism never hurts.. let it roll if you dont agree. It doesnt mean they have a ATTITUDE.. it just means they see things differently.. which apparently you cant stand (NOTE BOOK YOU WROTE BACK)

    Best wishes

The latest was very interesting...this new driver works out of my terminal. He came up to the T-CALL(drop and have someone else finish the trip to destination) office because he needed to T-CALL his load-said he was out of hours,it sounded interesting so i listened to this.It was a delivery to a scheduled appointment for a Live unload. He had taken the load-that someone else had dropped out of(QUIT OR REFUSED IT)so the planner was desperate and told him to take it,even though he would be late-he was told(according to him)that he could T-CALL the load when he got to the terminal(destination was near the terminal) but when he picked it up he realized that it could not be T-CALLED because it was a high value load with directions not to T-CALL.So he called that in and was told-in this case it will get handled through a t-call.This guy calls the terminal when he gets near, and was told by the driver managers,on-call,to deliver the load-even though he would be out of hours because it could not be T-CALLED-he had already told them that.
He tried to explain to a few different D.M.s and then a supervisor, that HE could not deliver the load,as the appointment time would be beyond his hours, and was told:
"DOES NOT MATTER-THE LOG GOES AWAY BECAUSE YOU ARE ON PRIVATE PROPERTY,SO JUST DELIVER THE LOAD"
WOW? at least he had enough sense to get to the terminal.I hope that someone, with some knowledge reviews the supposedly recorded discussion.

    ... snip

Is it any wonder almost ALL the training companies are now going to EOBR's precicely because of this ethics and safety issue? Most state DOT cops know who pushes the limits and why. Those load planners make their money based on miles you run, so it's not in their financial interest to pull you off a run that THEIR paycheck depends on, logs an issue or not. Now, with the new software Qualcomm and others have finally got the trucking companies to begin using, it's a LOT harder to push those limits, because the screens will alert when a driver is running behind schedule a day or so ahead of time on a multi-day trip.

Yes, this makes the dispatchers work harder, and gives them more headaches. They also have memories, and will likely assign you the worst loads they can find if you upset their little world a little too much. That's the give and take in this game, and EOBR's and CSA 2010 will just make it much more interesting to see how the companies can continue to push 'performance' based pay much longer with more computers in control of both what the driver does and THEY do too... :biggrin_25525:

I was with swift for some time. I ended up not staying with them because I had a couple of accidents. To be honest, the only reason I don't like them is because their driver managers do not listen to their drivers. I sat down with mine when I first met him and explained that while I knew it was inevitable, could I not be sent to the North East. I have driven everywhere else, my first day I was sent to Kittery, Maine, and I had nothing but problems. They should have given me a driver trainer that was still doing OTR not regional. Now I have to fight to try and get a job in the trucking industry again. I have a family now and recently laid off. There are no local job opportunities around anymore, and the last trucking company I worked for folded.

"I was with swift for some time. I ended up not staying with them because I had a couple of accidents. To be honest, the only reason I don't like them is because their driver managers do not listen to their drivers."
That is the "Swift way" of trapping drivers-they label any incident that you have -
    "an accident"
and they find a way to put you at fault,by finding a way to blame you for the incident,-it's almost like witchcraft..."well if you had lifted your left nut before you sat down, then the guy behind you would not have slammed into you-so this was a preventable accident"
and then they place that on your record. Now once they do that, they then reinforce the fact that you are a bad driver through weekly grading sessions that label you on a scale from platinum to bronze. You could have been on time 100%,and been fuel efficient-low idle etc etc,but if you've done $50 worth of damage-even something that they did not repair-then they will lump you into a category where they reinforce that you are a bad driver-they want you to feel oblogated to work for them because,as they have TOLD you OR led you to believe-YOU ARE A BAD DRIVER and no one else will hire you!!!But Swift is nice enough to keep you(wink, wink)
One of the things that continues to amaze me is that MOST of the Drivers that I have met-at our Company terminals and at Truck stops, have some bad story that they need to tell you about this company-some way that they have been taken advantage of,or cheated by this company.
The company has screwed me and so many other drivers that I have spoken with, that I can only come to one Conclusion-THIS COMPANY IS SLIME.
I hate to "beat a dead horse",but it was a lousy week, and They did a couple of other ###### things to me,been fuming all day.
I hope that someone sues this company into the gutter and then their lowlife "driver managers" are forced to go back to flipping burgers or cleaning toilets at their previous jobs-where they gained all of the experience to be qualified to be a "driver manager" at Swift.
    Thanks fer listening.
