A quick question

You don't need a chain or tow strap that is rated at 80K or more, unless you plan to lift the entire rig in the air with it! You only need a strong enough chain to handle the rolling resistance of the vehicle and whatever it is stuck in. But, yes, more is safer.

 

well chains are a different story when it comes to recovery and rated load limits. But snatch/recovery straps HAVE to be equal to the weight of what your vehicle or the vehicle you're recovering, it depends on who's heavier. I've seen quater ton rangers and s10's pop 5500lb straps like they weren't nothing, but i frequent mudd holes where getting stuck to a level three is a frequent sight.
