I'm late to the party, JB, and just now reading about your medical journey. You have all the vibes I can march and muster. Will be thinking of you on July 18th and hoping for the best of all possible outcomes.

Back at work. Got back up to the hub Friday night. Did an Orlando turn Saturday an Ocala turn on Sunday and a Jacksonville/Orlando turn yesterday. Spent yesterday morning with my trainers hat on showing a new hire the proper technique of hooking up and breaking down a set of doubles. One thing that I stressed was that if the dolly starts rolling too fast towards you or away from you, let it go. There’s enough of metal and concrete around that will stop it. You don’t need to use a foot, leg, arm or hand as a tool. Just as I was showing him how to move the dolly, it got away from me. I showed him exactly what to do, let it go and wait for it to stop, which it did when it rolled into another dolly. He mentioned that when it started to get away from me, he looked at me and said to himself just how calm and collected I was as the dolly was rolling away.

Everything for my surgery is in place. Will be home 2 weeks from today. I rented a car to throw the rest of my stuff in and drive home. Will have a few loose ends to take care of then drive up to Jacksonville on Wednesday. The Thursday before my surgery I have a day of tests to do. Bloodwork, an EKG, a final MRI and a preop consultation with all my Dr’s and nurses on my team. All the pre authorizations needed for everything has been gotten from my health insurance and the last one for the surgery itself was received today. Getting closer and can’t wait until it’s over. My biggest concern is my wife. As strong as she is, I know she’s concerned. Our daughter will be with her, my 90 year old mom will be there with my brother. I’ve done everything I need to, including filing all the paperwork for my short term disability and my extra Aflac policies. I’ve been told over and over that this has a 98% success chance, every so often I think about the other 2%.

That’s all for now. Was told earlier to be ready at 0400. Will be going to bed as soon as it gets dark. Be safe everyone, God Bless.

Been a very busy last 2 weeks. I got to chase bonus miles last week and the week before. Had 3195 miles 2 weeks ago which came out to 950 miles worth of bonus. This past week was 3390 miles which came out to 1190 bonus miles. Though it was pretty cool making that .95 CPM bonus, I’d rather stick to my guaranteed salary for 2200 miles per week.

Worked yesterday, today and will work tomorrow. I picked up my rental car earlier at the airport. I have my belongings all packed. I’ll be leaving to drive home tomorrow evening. Have a few things around the house to take care of on Tuesday then my wife and I will leave around noon on Wednesday for the drive up to the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville to get this surgery done with. I’m now at the point of just wanting it over with. I have consulted with my lead nurse multiple times about what I’m sure is petty questions, but thank God she’s so understanding. I spoke with both my Neurosurgeons on Friday. I’ve had multiple loose ends taken care of. Thursday is a busy day at the clinic. Will be having blood taken, an EKG, the final MRI and a final exam. Should be done about 4pm, then my wife and I will be spending dinner and time with our family. Just can’t wait to wake up Friday and take a deep breath knowing it’s over.

I’m pretty confident I won’t be on TTR for a little while, but my wife will stop by to let anyone who cares know it’s over with and I’m on the recovery road.
