Hey, I gave two more examples than you did. Which would be nothing.

    Well.ok, I read the flyer:
Again, truck stops, the interiors and parking lots are NOT "public property". You MUST get permission.
And property owners DO NOT have to post prohibitions.
There is nothing in that document that allows carte-blanche permission to take photographs on private property.

    Quote:
You're photographing products at the supermarket.
You need permission to take photos on private property. But stores are private spaces open to the public. Owners can limit photography with clearly posted restrictions.

I don't know of any supermarket that would allow you to take photos of their store with-out their permission. If you do, please feel free to list them, and I'll bet you a week's wages that they:

    1. DON'T allow people to take photos (with-out approval)
    2. Don't have "clearly posted restrictions" (nor do they need them).
Most truck stop parking lots are clearly marked, I know the one in Las Vegas was the last time I was there: "CDL Drivers Only"
Buckaroo Banzi with a camera didn't have one, he said as much. HE was trespassing...........

You just can't stroll thru a truckstop and start taking pictures. You DO NOT know what is in any certain trailer. Hell, you might even get some FEDs up-yer-backside for being too nosey.
I know, most of what I carry is "protected" and I often have "escorts".
One time some moron 4-wheeler was giving me a hard time because I had got in front off him when he thought he should be in front of me. As soon as the other lane opened up, he drove up one side of me, down the other taking video. I am sure he was just going to harass me (with my company), but it was great fun to see him get ripped out of his "mommy-van" and laid face-down at gun point. LOL
I KNOW he won't do that again, and I KNOW those "GUYS" didn't let him keep his video either. And you know what else....? THAT happened on a PUBLIC Highway.
    LOL

The OP did nothing here but tell a great big STORY. And a bunch of you guys fell for it..........hook-line-and sinker.
I thought it stunk like bullcrap, I still do.

I was interviewed for a magazine while I was working in Louisiana after the Hurricanes, and the photographer HAD to get permission to take photos of me (and various dogs) at the TA in Slidell. (I was the "trucker having puppies") Permission didn't come from the local level, it came from Corporate level and took weeks to obtain. Permission was obtained BY Purina (the magazine publisher) in advance, "appointment" for the photo-shoot was made in advance. Everything was set up in advance. I was there at the pre-determined time, so was the photographer. Purina even had to pay off the trucker who owned the nice Kenworth that was behind me in the photo (bought him dinner).

Yeah, you can't use pictures of someone for profit without their permission. Doesn't meant you can't take pictures for yourself. Two totally different things.

Trespassing is a catchall charge. If they ask you to leave, you have to leave. Since something being illegal requires a law against it and nobody can cite a law against taking pictures, my statement still stands. If you're stupid about it, like the moron harassing you on the highway, you'll probably end up eating dirt.

This is THE number one complaint I have as a female driver. Even after other drivers see me in the drivers seat and back my truck into a spot I still get treated like that. Sad, pathetic, just as dumb as male species can get. Ok rant over. As a female driver my guard is always up and if I saw someone snapping pics, and get in a four wheeler.....it could come across as shady and better safe than sorry I would say something to the truckstop manager. You never know what good or bad someone is up to lurking around a parking lot.

that t/a is total trash. they did you a favor. when you finally become a driver. if you're ever in need of stopping somewhere around vegas, drive 30 miles north of the city to a sinclair truck stop that's off of i-15, exit 70-something. it's the valley of fire exit. there's always a place to park in there regardless the time of day or night.
