Ask Stevens about that. The money is better at Stevens with those coast-to-coast & border-to-border freight lanes.

    Curiousjoe and bryan21384 Thank this.

Ohhhhh ok. Do you know if Stevens would want you to park at a terminal?

Browsville to Laredo = approx 204 miles
    (nearest Swift terminal)

Brownsville to Dallas = approx 550 miles
    (nearest Stevens terminal)

If Stevens will get you home....as they say....ask yourself....do you have any nearby, truly secure parking for a rig....at all?

If you leave a rig at a company terminal during your hometime -- & something happens to it -- it's the company's problem...& they can't blame/come back on you for it.

If you park a rig away from company property -- & something happens to it -- the company can give you grief for it ("this would not have been a problem if you had parked the rig at terminal X....or dropyard Y").

Also -- while on hometime -- if you park at a terminal -- the carrier can do the needed, scheduled maintenance, or repairs...saving you valuable time (& also....$money$) when you're back on duty & need to use the truck, later.

    Just some food for thought.

    Think it through.....

Yeah, he doesn't have a place to park at home with either company.

Yeah, that happens. You're pretty limited where you're located.
A lot has changed since 2013.

Previously, I had a very similar arrangement/situation with Schneider.

I left the truck/rig at their terminal in the Atlanta area...& commuted back & forth to home in Southern GA.

Having truck/trailer repairs, maintenance...& other technical glitches looked at by the company's on-site terminal repair shop during hometime often turned out to be a real godsend. :p

Also -- being able to take care of other company business while at the terminal...& just before going home....was often really handy/helpful, as well.

Especially noteworthy -- easily one of the biggest problems you will face -- especially as a first-year driver -- is finding safe, legal, truck-friendly parking....at the end of each work shift.

This will be especially true in/near most urban areas -- & particularly so up in the northeast.

Don't forget -- Swift also has over 30 terminals nationwide -- plus heaven-only-knows how many more dropyards....for you to park at....elsewhere.

Especially for a first-year/rookie driver -- those extra parking options can really save your bacon, later.

    Again...think it through.....
