My instincts tell me that something isn’t right, like a lack of communication between the office people at his company and the office people at the truck repair. Before you get the truck, call the repair shop yourself and confirm the truck is ready to work.

NEXT TIME, negotiate your breakdown pay. I got stuck in a motel for 3.5 weeks at $120/day breakdown rate, plus motel. I kept in contact with the dealership, but sat at the pool and drank beer. Pays better than sitting at home and you could sneak home on the weekends.

Shneider wanted me to do something like that......
I told them it would be a cold day in hell before I loaned a multi-billion dollar company money.
    They worked it out.

Well, how far away is the truck from your home? Is the truck located in a large city or out in the boonies somewhere that a one way rental would be cost prohibited? How would you get to the shop after dropping off the one way rental? Do you have a personal vehicle parked at the company terminal?
Lots of dangling unanswered questions that predicate what your next move would be.

FCC seems to be a good one for dry van guys/gals, but of course it's been a while since I looked at that thread. I think @motocross25 was working there for a while, not sure if he's still there. I think I remember him going out west periodically, but I could be wrong there. If he strolls along he could correct me on that. If OP chose Climate, I'd help him any way that I can though.

I think they're communicating ok, but they want a favor before he picks up the truck. I get the apprehension though. You don't want to get on the Greyhound or take a chance of recovering a truck and it's disgusting. If he had opted to stay with his current company, those are the kinds of things they will remember. I do agree, on one point......breakdown pay is paramount, but I think he went home and let em know so that got killed off.

At FCC it's a sure bet the teams and 0/0's drivers get the long runs and the solo get the scraps.
35% of the fleet is owner-operators.

FCC is one of the best dry van fleets in the country actually.

I don't know brother, they seem to look the part to me. I have heard of solos getting long runs there. I'm reefer first, but I just don't buy the notion that all dry van companies are crap, nor do I believe it's impossible to make money hauling dry van. I think it depends on the company, but more importantly, I think it depends on the driver.
