I'd rather look any man in the eyes and cross that line then to go home and look those who depend on me in the eyes and say, "I couldn't cross the line so we can't get groceries today."

    Heavy Dude,
I get what the strikers are striking for and I understand. My father-in-law is a union man through and through! The unions did protect the workers and have paved the way for safe practices and decent wages, but in this era where there is OSHA and protective services for the workers the unions are not the same. I'm not saying they aren't doing anything, but you have to admit it is not the same as say 30 years ago...

Oh maybe like brsims I'm just a tough guy behind the computer. You never know... lol Make your point without judgment of those with differing opinions than you. That is what I try yo do.

But this has been a good read today... :biggrin_25519:

Oh please. Are you serious? Do you honestly wonder why MOST people think today’s unions are garbage? Couple of tough guys that think just because they are union, they can do and say anything they want and in the end, they only end up looking like idiots. Nothing but a bunch of hot air and empty threats that gets even hotter and more empty when they are given access to a keyboard and a forum. And some of you actually wonder why unions get no respect?

    Wow...

So, I crossed a line once. Some union idiot put his hand on me to stop me and ended up on the ground with a broken wrist and a dislocated shoulder. Did it happen? Or am I playing the keyboard Rambo? I know another guy that calmly put a bullet in the groin of some union schmoe threatening him with a lead pipe. Did that happen? What about the little guy that turned out to be a 4th degree black belt and utterly whipped the azzes of a pair of union goons that thought they were going to keep him from crossing a picket line and doing work that he was supposed to be doing? What about that happening?

Point is, you don’t know. Works on the same principle as your ”empty” rhetoric about union tough guys and everybody supposedly being afraid of them.

    Pshaaa!

As far as physical confrontations go, when it comes down to a man supporting his family or some lazy union jerk huffing out his chest act acting like a baboon, my money is on the actual WORKER.

Awhile back goodyear in union city tn. Had a trucker beat the crap out of a picket guy. I don't remember the details, but I think the picketer struck his truck with his sign and the trucker edumacated him. Police arrested the picketer. It was on the news.

I don't feel that I am being a "keyboard" rambo. If I came across as such, I apologize to everybody here. However, none of my points have been addressed here. As a common carrier driver, who is not a member of the striking union, why should I be prevented from doing my job in picking up or delivering freight past a picket line? The striking union is not fighting for me, or working to protect my job. Not am I stealing jobs from the union. I'm just doing the same job that I would be doing whether the location was union or not. And if I fail to do my job, then there are thirty or forty guys (and gals) waiting for an opportunity to drive my truck and do my job while I wander through the joys of uemployment. Is anybody here seeing my point?

BRSIMS, my post was not addressing you...it was addressing the union keyboard rambo. ;)

I am in agreement with you totally. Why should you be denied a livlihood because a few people voted on something you have no control over? If you were part of a union and agreed to strike and this and that, that would be one thing and a totally different argument.

But people that are not associated with unions...to be subjected to union thuggery? Screw'em. I get a chuckle out of all the stories I've read about some union coward trying to strong-arm a non-union worker and getting their azzes handed to them on a platter.

bottom line it all right here....
If said striker puts hands on the line crosser. Someone is going to jail. It may be the striker, it may be the crosser, or it may be both, but bottom line is you can't do it.
I will defend myself if needed. That is not being a tough guy. That is being human!

BR you are on the right track about them. They should not be blocking the way. If they want to do a 30 second peaceful block then let me pass I'm ok with that. Them keeping me from doing my job is like if they just came to my house and blocked my driveway. I'm not ok with that.

i myself DO NOT like unions. my problem is this when you have a guy cleaning toilets for 25 a hour at a car plant then the price is going to go up for that car to help pay for his wages, that is why gm is shutting down the shreveport location because you have guys making 25 an hour cleaning toilets. i know what you are going to say is that he has to support his or her family, yes they do but not maike 25 and hour. as far as crossing the strike line i would cross the line to support my family.

Unions are the key reason so many homes and cars and just about anything we buy costs so much today...demanding a higher income than the guy/s that formed and built the company, investing their own capitol into the venture just to have a bunch of union thugs force higher wages and benefits on the companies payroll...the original redistribution of wealth!
