90 lbs give or take. Plus you have to hold it up while someone mounts the bolts from the top. It's bigger too so mom was a little bothered about the cabinet not opening up fully but she will just have to deal with it. It's too scratched up on top now to return LOL

Interesting video on the Japanese "early warning system" Gives a whole 20 seconds notice......... 20 minutes for the airports.

There has been no response from the "Leaders" of Seattle metro area and virtually no planning or starts to curb population living in the areas that would be affected by either the Subduction Zone or Rainer waking up and flinging off it's ice. An early warning system for anything is no replacement for getting people out of the way of the threat decades before an event happens.

All that an Early warning system will do is cause more pain and suffering before death -- as people act stupid while they panic and get stuck in gridlock.

Joined a conference call in the early '80s, was a bunch of Field service spares folks scattered across the Major U.S. cities. Something was going on with Russia and they moved up the "nuclear holocaust clock". People were talking about what they would do if they got warnings of a Russian ICBM launch. The people on the call were stupid enough to ask my plans.

Told them already in place. Sunglasses are in my shirt pocket and lawn chairs are by the roof access ladder. I'm avoiding the carnage on the streets and heading up to the roof to watch. With a dozen valid military and societal structure target within a few miles, I'm wondering if I could see the blast before my eyeballs melt.

Call went kinda quiet after that...........

Very reasonable words here as I can attest too. Not me but other family situations. When the need or request comes; consider long and hard,
before committing. I've seen garages converted, addons built, and all sorts of things to "take care of" but for naught. The afflicted die, or get to be more than can be handled, then to a assisted/memory care place. BUT BY THEN IT TAKES 6 MONTHS OR WAY MORE TO GET IN A PLACE, OR TAKE ONE YOU WOULD NOT SEND A DOG TOO..

Me; after Peggy died in 2011, I stayed in our 4 BR, big yard, good neighborhood a while. At age 80; I came to realize that some day I would need a place, as the girls were in KY by then. Peggy and I were already on a list here at Traceway for a "Villas" unit, (2 BR Duplex side) planning fwd.
So I revamped and moved into a 1 BR apt in the Independent Living areas of the Main op, "Manor" (google Traceway Retirement-Tupelo) to
see. I lived there from 1/2016 to 8/2024, living independently just as I was except the actual housing. Drove, shopped, went to KY and TX, in my truck , etc. (Opus and Hazul have seen my place I had there...)

Last January, 2024. I reviewed and decided to move to the Mitchell Center here (All same campus) into assisted living. Less energy, more arthritic, slower reactions. I still drove, and shopped for and prepared my Bkft and Dins. BUT, I FORESAW A DRUNK OR ERRATIC DRIVER CRASHING ME AND THERE WOULD BE THE OLD 80+ YR OLD THAT "OUGHTA NOT BEEN DRIVING".

So now I have a nice sized room, small fridge, large closest, super safe bath shower, and <30 steps to a table in the DR. 3 meals a day, bed made, laundry done by next day, and any assistance I might ask for. Still go to bed, get up, shower, dress and hike into the DR myself. When and if, can have wheel chair to and fro, help in dressing or even be bathed.
At some point, if need Skilled nursing/memory care, can move to one of the Green Houses. Google Traceway to see detail of how they work.

Main thing is: Look ahead, figure out what you will need and how to arrange to get it. (Waiting lists for a decent established place will be years
long.) At/by 75, get in an Independent living place, sell your house and Money Market the $. SS and any retirement savings should cover your expenses. You can still drive, go anywhere, stay and return like home. BUT, THE FALL, STROKE ANY CRIPPLING DISEASE, CAN BE HANDLED PROGESSIVELY, NOT AS WHAM BAM ,,,?? WHERE WHAT.
    Oh, I will be 90, 9/3/2025...
