I personally like laid back environments better who doesn’t. Whatever your gut feeling is telling you is probably what you should do.

I haven't gotten any gear or ppe yet and it's been close to a month now so far I'm using all my own personal clothes luckily I have clothes I wore from the state ODOT when I was there , that part stinks when you'd prefer to look the part. I haven't gotten back to them yet with a decision however just yet I most likely will tomorrow. Laid back aside , do you consider airgas a step up company wise from amerigas

The thing about jobs, or these various places is that it seems you find a place you like and end up somewhere where the people are reasonable, there is minimal BS, no HR hag down your back and it's good. Stay there for a few years. 3 years , 5 years, 8 years or something then some new guy or a new management "team" arrives and they turn it all upside down in no time and it turns to s****t in no time and everyone hates it. They take a place that runs really well and just nuke it and ruin it in no time. Why? I've seen it more than I care to admit.

I really couldn’t tell you if it is a step from companies. Airgas is pretty big though. I see Amerigas everywhere also. Plus I don’t know that industry that well also.

Yeah you're right and that's #### near a possibility with any company that brings in new management I know mostly all the guys at amerigas where I am says if the guy (manager) leaves some may also leave just I guess due to how cool the guy is. He is alright don't get me wrong I guess he'll look out if you do your job and show up to work which isn't a issue, but I'm about a month in and I've yet to even get any PPE or any work gear to do the job lol , hell that's wack to me. Some of my production jobs at least provided that and a free lunch your first day lol

Am I the only one who finds it unacceptable to not have gotten any ppe for dealing with hazmat work? A little over a month in. Good manager and laid back environment aside to me that's a bit ridiculous..that's like some day 1 or first week things I'd EXPECT from a company especially a big time employer. I'm all for laid back environments but not if it's to your detriment. The guys are decent not good/not bad. Overall I'd rate the job a 5-6/10 thus far some stuff is annoying like having heavy days and no one help you refill 75 cylinders. They're struggling to keep drivers which is unfortunate.. crazy part is 5k sign on bonus is split in half (90days 2500) but if you leave before a year they take it out your check lol along with any pro rated time off you took before a year

What kind of checks are they doling out that they can take 2500 out of?

I've usually had to buy all my own stuff unless it was a union job. Sucks stepping into a company and day 1 paying 500+ bucks for uniforms, boots, hardhat, glasses, earplugs, gloves, hi-vis, etc.

That's complete utter bs to have to fund and provide your own stuff to WORK for your company bs me thinks. The sign on bonus is 5,000 get half at 90 days , and I think other at 6 months or a year, but if you leave before a year you have to pay it back lol and any borrowed time before you accumulate I. You're given a certain amount of time off at start but it's basically unearned at that time so they'll take it out check if you leave before earning it
