I missed out on an old FLD it had a broken frame. I was thinking of buying this one it’s a 87 WSTAR with a bad 855 Cummins 3 in it. It has new tires all around, wet kit, new front rear end, starter, alternator, and 4 new batteries. Is it worth 4 or 5 K blew up. Plus a 1000 tow bill. I think all the new stuff and wet kit is worth the money. It’s 100% ready to roll except for the engine
Old Truck value

I’ve never rebuilt a 855 but I figured I could get it done. What’s the best I could do doing it myself, I don’t think it’s ever been took apart so I’d probably need the heads cut for the updated liners
-
Or find one in good running condition, change water pump and a few other things while it’s out of truck, install and run until it starts using a lot of oil, then rebuild if needed
-
What would you guys and girls do, I got to make a decision by tomorrow morning
-
I wouldn't. An old star is gonna be hard to get parts for. I'm sure you can find a late 90's in just as bad shape for as cheap.
Tbag3 Thanks this. -
Why by tomorrow morning?
Bean Jr. Thanks this. -
Thanks, I like the truck but I don’t want to have more money in it than it’s gonna be worth
-
He says someone else wants to buy it, but who knows might just be trying to make me hurry
Lonesome Thanks this. -
exhausted379, Diesel Dave and Tbag3 Thank this.

Some of the worst decisions are made because of a "deadline".
