Hey guys, please see picture below. I noticed this on my pre-trip this morning. Can I still drive While I order a part or do I need to go to the dealer and get an expensive part right away? This is the exhaust pipe flex part for a 2019 Freightliner Cascadia

I believe an exhaust leak under the cab is an OOS violation.

I'm surprised the emissions sensors aren't going off like Christmas tree lights.

The old straight exhaust pipe, I would wrap with exhaust tape put a clamp on it. Not sure that would hold very long on flex pipe.

If your emissions are intact you won’t be getting the correct pressures for everything to be working as it should. Peterbilt has a similar piece and it broke on my 2017. If it regens at all you’ll get a bunch of white smoke coming out from under your cab.

Get a new one asap. Start calling dealers along the way. Easy dyi repair. Dealership is probably the place to buy anyways. Sometimes prices can fluctuate a lot between Dealers. Needs repair, might as well fix it and be done. Biggest problems probably going to be finding it in stock. Might have to make a lot of calls and have it shipped to your house. $100 or $800. Might be happy to pay, once if you can find it. I’d consider checking the junkyards. They’re often a good source for otherwise super expensive dealer items. Intake piping comes to mind. They often have a pile of stuff like that to rummage through and match up.

I’m not going home for a couple of weeks. I’m not worried at all about the sensor stuff. Just don’t want any mechanical issues. The dealers are looking at $500. I think I can get used one for under $140. Just need to make sure there won’t be any mechanical issues.

Sensors control mechanical stuff. I don’t know much about the emission sensors. I think the biggest issue is excess heat. Wires melt easier on the newer hotter engines even when everything’s correct.
