That’s a drop in the bucket compared to what one of Abenaqui’s tanker yankers did in Everett ,Massachusetts a decade and a half ago. That idiot laid a tanker over going too fast in a rotary,spilling his fuel load(9400 gallons of gasoline)which sparked a fire and torched a neighborhood!!
Tanker bursts into flames; Everett homes, cars ignited
Even then some of the gasoline ended up going into storm drains leading into the Mystic River!!

Sounds like a guy who forgot to close his crude oil tanker 250 barrels of crude oil right to the ground. Think the cleanup was something like $6 million

Oh insurance will likely still pay for the damages in the end. But because he swerved many will claim your not eligiable for it and fight you tooth and nail. Some have fine print that swerveing makes you entirely liable too. Doesnt help most will also as a middle finger just list you as at fault or such internally and jack your rates way up BECAUSE you swerved. Insurance be like that sadly.

The Caddie's insurance, If he even had insurance, may pay, but only up to the limits of his liability policy. Which probably won't be enough to cover uprighting the truck and doing the repairs. I was still running a tanker when I retired, and I would have not swerved. Better him getting hurt or killed than me.

Dang, that's A LOT of crude for one load!!

Also, did his trailer have regular valves instead of API heads?
