I suppose a lot of it as far as cylinder walls go depends on the particular engine and application. .040 is common they make .060 over size piston for a 4.0 jeep. About anything that gets machine work is a minimum.030. Again though. A lot has to do with what you are working with as each situation is different

IMG_3919.jpeg Got the 2.5” springs under it. Need to get new control arms and a front track bar. I’m probably going to put something in with those high dollar Johnny joints. Even though it’ll never be a rock crawler.

I tell ya. This #### is expensive and addictive

Thanks for letting me know, always wondered. Have run Big Cams and Electronic N14's but never had my hands on a mechanical N14. Looked at putting one in my '82 359 but went with the B Model out of that cabover instead. How does yours run and pull?

Runs beautifully, starts amazing, and pulls pretty decent. I really like the STC.
They built it in two hp ratings for truck’s. 350hp and 410hp. Stationary applications went as high as 460hp, iirc.
This one started life as a 350hp, but was built to 460hp specs (lower compression, bigger injectors) in 2020 before I bought it in 2022.
When I bought it it would run right with my friends bone stock 475hp Cat. At that point it had a 25 button in it, and 230cc injectors. I tinkered with the pump and got some more out of it. I dialed the shaft screw out until fuel pressure would go any higher (3.5 turns), and then started dropping button numbers until I was at 0 button, and 210psi fuel pressure on a hard pull. 34-35 psi boost, and 850° egt post turbo.
I just had Premco go through the pump and injectors since the fiasco of it breaking #3 injector pushrod. #3 injector was out of an early STC motor, and we didn’t know that when we set the overhead. Warren said he was able to get the injectors to flow just over 250cc’s, and that’s as far as he could go without going to his big barrel, ported body injectors. He also said that pump was really hot (over 100% what the original code called for :biggrin_2559:) so he just freshened it up and left the settings alone.
I haven’t put a load behind it yet because I’m doing some other work on it at the same time.
Next modification will be a 1” pump gear as I’d like to see 250psi rail pressure under full load, but I’m approaching the point where injector knock could become issue. STC definitely helps mitigate against that, but I’ll definitely have to be alert to the possibility as I edge the rail pressure up.
550-600 wheel hp is definitely possible at that point.

Do you think they will survive that higher horsepower better than a Big Cam?

I think the STC helps them live.
Things have changed over the last, say, 20 years. Bigger injectors versus killing them with rail pressure, better turbos, understanding that retarding timing helps, etc, goes a long way in keeping even a Big Cam alive.
