Oma come here in '52 or '53?
Grandpop met her working at a diner in Hoboken, NJ. He was a WWII vet, but a Navy man on the USS Texas, & only when she was in the pacific theater..
Never heard any stories about them not getting along but maybe I should ask?
Oma's dad, was in the SS Calgary & sent off to Stalingrad. Left weighing 205lb & barely made it out alive returned at 90lbs. My understanding is the SS basically abandoned them. Had to eat their horses, darn near froze to death, & some of the Russian women actually snuck them bread & potatoes at their own risk of execution by Russian soldiers to keep them from starving to death. He seemed soured on his homeland..
Pretty sure Great Grand dad was proud to be an American when he come here in the late '50's..?OLDSKOOLERnWV, Tug Toy, broke down plumber and 8 others Thank this. -

Getting reloaded in Holbrook it was 96* and started raining. I kept strapping and got pretty cool. Finished up and the truck said it was 61*.
It warmed back up headed back into NM, but I hit a storm in Sante Fe. By the time I came over Raton into CO, it was 45* and I had to turn the heat on.
Been cooler here at home too since I got here. 69* right now, fixin to head out and enjoy the day.
Been some crazy weather for sure. I'm ready for fall and some mid 50 highs.OLDSKOOLERnWV, Tug Toy, Walk Among Us and 13 others Thank this.
