Guess he ain't gonna play with us no more.

By the way Wheels, we were trying to help. You decided to ignore us. And alot of the guys who responded to you were O/Os who could probably do an inframe rebuild of their entire truck in the time it takes you to pick up some lil sweetheart at the bar. But if experience and knowledge mean so little to ya, then I just wanna wish ya the best of luck on your project. But I still want to see a video of that truck with that engine pulling a real load of freight.

    Brickman Thanks this.

Wheels, lose the attitude man....several of these guys are either current or former Owner Op's. They are giving you sound advice....you should really listen to what they are saying. They know what the heck they are talking about.

Have you ever driven a truck before or will this be your first?

The Challenger and Brickman Thank this.

A 454 will not work. period. It cannot produce near the amount of torque required to move 80000 pounds down the road. Even if it could the gearing would have to be so low that the truck could not drive down the road at 25 mph, let alone 55+. Finding a transmission that wont shatter under the load would be tough too, especially because it has to mate to the 454. Don't get me started on the frame fabrication necessary to install the engine. Please don't take this the wrong way, honestly you're gonna waste your time and money with the 454 idea. My advice...save up some $$$ and either rebuild the diesel that's in it or buy another cheap truck. I found a bunch of trucks for $5k or less on truckpaper.com that would do the job.

Now why didn't I think of that????????

I've probably been wasting my time building a 460 to put in my 73 F-100...........

I could have been a Super Trucker and done a 454 Chevy motor swap in an old Peterbilt instead.

A truck like this would be no problem with a 454 for power.
