Ok guys/gals - really debating this situation hard - maybe too hard actually. I have the offer from Stevens but also have one from Millis. I have been reading all of the forms and really started leaning towards Millis. However, they require $400 down to start, then I have to get my CDL permit and since I am new to KY - they charge $150.00 to take the #### test. So it's already $550.00 in - being out of work for over a month has really cut into my savings and wanted to save what I have left to cover a few bills while in training with either company.
Millis pays better - but the upfront cost and I am concerned that I will not get the miles. Also seems with Millis I will see mainly just the east coast and NE/SE type of runs.
Stevens pay is not as good - but looks like miles might be better with them and really want to be able to run the 48 and not confined to one area per say. Once I get my CDL in TX - how long do I have to transfer it back to KY (my home state). Also does Stevens see much of Ky or GA as I have family in both areas and can take my off time in either location.
Equipement seems to be very similar and both appear to really take care of their trucks. Benefits are about the same except for the per diem option with Millis.
Man - this is really tough! -
I can't speak for Millis, but stevens has gotten me all the miles I want. As far as the license, I heard them say 90 days to a couple people, but that time can be extended if necessary.
I do a lot of traveling on I-40 if that makes any difference. -
I know what you are going through Baritone. I'm having the same issues between Millis and Roehl. Have an offer from both of them. I did apply at Stevens too, but never heard anything back.

No matter which company is your first choice, you will likely need to call them and stay on top of them. Recruiters for any company are constantly burried in aps. Be proactive. Call them, call them, call them!
A hint: if one recruiter for a company is slow about getting back, ask for another. They work on commission often. -
I just want to be able to run - dont want to be stuck to one area of the US. I want to see it all as I am single and my kids are in college - all they need from me is for the ATM window to remain open! So being out 6 weeks is not an issue for me as it is with most others. I do like the ability to lease if I was to ever decide to do that - the other company doesnt offer that option.
Thanks for the candide information - it's greatly appreciated! -
Millis 724 power units stevens 1814
Driver safe stat 65 for Millis, 42 for Stevens, anything above 75 is deficient
Vehicle safe stat 23 for millis, 40 for stevens.
Drivers for Millis are put out of service more often than drivers for Stevens.
Millis drivers are going to be looked at closely at scale houses with this score.
More equipment is put out of service for stevens.
As far as Stevens seeing KY and GA, YES and YES. Atlanta, Louisville.....
You have a limited time to transfer your license to your home state. Best bet with Stevens, as soon as you are done with training, get your load home for some much needed time off, and change your license. -

Hello boys and girls. thought I'd introduce myself.
I am in week 4 of O1, currently have done all my requirements except number of days and total mileage. Will make it by day 35 easily.
I've been lurking as a non member until today. didn't realize I needed to 'join' until I tried to post.
I had been driving previously for years, but got out 5 years ago, gave up my license. didn't think I'd need it again.
But here I am. Guess once it gets in your blood you just can't get away.
So I went to school (what a trip!). Originally I had been grandfathered in from the old days before CDLs. Didn't think it was a big deal.
My how things have changed.
So, see you all around.Fyr Thanks this. -
Do these two ratings work the same way?
