Where's the article stating that the driver was put out of service?
This below is crazy, especially from Texas. Not being able to read signs within the state is just as dangerous as outside the state.
from @Concorde today
“In Texas, drivers who cannot read or speak English may still be issued commercial driver’s licenses ifthey operate solely within the state’s borders. Thispolicy is not new. Per Texas Transportation Code § 522.043(b), the state prohibits requiring Englishlanguage proficiency for intrastate-only CDL holders. The Texas Administrative Code and the officialTexas Commercial Motor Vehicle Driver Handbook support this stance, noting that ELP only applies to interstate drivers.”Flat Earth Trucker, drvrtech77, JonJon78 and 1 other person Thank this. -

In both cases I had to pull over onto the shoulder before I either:
A. Overheat the trailer brakes, which would’ve resulted in a thermo event (brake fire).
And/or
B. The clutch packs overheat-which would’ve resulted in a fried transmission!
Either way it wouldn’t been good.
Both cases were traced to air lines that failed on the trailer tandems.
Now remember this driver only had four minutes from the time the brakes locked up to the collision-which didn’t leave him much time to diagnose the issues. At that point he abandoned the truck!Flat Earth Trucker Thanks this. -

He said the brakes failed and wouldn’t stop before the tracks and then wouldn’t release?

Had our boy Elroy been able to read English, he may have been able to call the emergency number at the RR crossing with the four minutes he had before the train came along and did what trains do to tractor trailers stuck on train tracks.JB7 Thanks this.
