I imagine it depends on the terminal, like I said we had drivers go from micro bulk to semi multiple times a week. Some only every once in awhile would they switch but it was never an issue and the pay was the same so everyone was happy.viper822004 Thanks this.
-
Yeah, it used to be that way and now microbulk drivers are dedicated to that position and are paid hourly instead of trip pay. Each terminal has at least one driver that can do both so he can cover when a microbulk driver goes on vacation.ViperTX Thanks this.
-
Yeah in California we were all paid by the hour. I’d hate to do this job paid by the trip, like fuel too many variables.Friend, 77fib77, Dennixx and 1 other person Thank this.

COMPLIANCE DRIVER,.
Every company has different rules in place for a variety of reasons. And xyz company wants everyone to comply with those rules no matter how dumb the may seem. At times crazy type of rules are put in place because they know ppl will break them. And that makes it easy to terminate. My company has there rules, but some customers has rules beyond belief. So we adhere to both sets or rules and get through our day. But it doesn't stop there. DOT rules, truck stop rules, local ordinances, and etc.
I've slapped a security guard speechless in the past for breaking my rules of being rude and ACTING BAD. But of course it was reported that I didn't follow the rules. But I didnt get in trouble when it was found that I followed that company's rules.
So as I said you can apply to those nitrogen only carriers. And that can help you gain the required experience(Witch is also some companies rules to apply). But before you think of applying to one of the private cryo companies. Your outlook on rules will have to change. You could still possibly get hired without changing. But I'm pretty sure you would get terminated afterwards for not wanting to follow through with the rules.
COMPLIANCE DRIVER,
Learn how to be a company man and COMPLY. We all will learn how to better do this in the next 5 to 8 years!!!Lightfoot71, scythe08 and Cali kid Thank this.
