Just because you don't like what was said doesn't mean it wasn't constructive.

Both comments were directly and accurately related to to the specialized segment of the market that you are trying to enter.

Your load isn't tall, wide, or particularly heavy, and it's probably a good load to try to get comfortable with your trailer, but what people see is someone with an inadequate tractor, who doesn't even know what the specifications of his tractor are, trying to enter their market as a competitor. No one was born with the knowledge needed to prosper in this or any other endeavor, and everyone needs to learn, but based on your questions and comments you don't really know what you don't know yet.

While your trailer isn't well suited for hauling heavy equipment as a mechanical detach, you will still likely take drive on/off loads. Do you have any familiarity operating heavy equipment? As a heavy hauler you will wind up needing to load equipment in areas with no help around, and often in soft or muddy conditions. Occasionally you may need to jump start the equipment. Do you know how to safely jump a 24 volt system with your 12 volt truck?

Permitting: Anybody can learn to navigate the various state websites with some patience, but when it comes time to bid a load you will need to know each state's restrictions and cost structure prior to getting the load.

@ElmerFudpucker ,@Rontonio , @Razororange , and many others on here make their living in different niches within heavy haul. You would be well advised to thicken your skin a bit and heed what they tell you. They see countless people without proper knowledge and equipment enter this line of work and subsequently depress rates while taking anything they can get to keep going.

We all respect folks with the desire and will to fight the odds and succeed. Your chances will improve a lot of you heed their advice.

This was constructive. Is there any resources on this forum for heavy haul that addresses all of these concerns? I’m not the first person to buy the ticket to the show. I have seen the horrible rates in flatbed and reefer, and I don’t want to contribute to possible falling rates in HH.
I’m from the city and prior experience was owning a small fleet of limousines; so no, I don’t have any experience with operating heavy equipment. I do have enough small business experience to figure it out.
I have a battery jumper Viking that is both 12 volt and 24 volts in my truck from Harbor Freight.
Question: anyone know where I can get keys made to all the different makes of the heavy equipment that I would need to drive on to my RGN? All replies will be appreciated.

Honest question. When you were in the limousine business and on a limousine form and someone came on there asking you to teach them all your trade secrets would you be happy to help them? Knowing once you give them all your knowledge they would take that knowledge and use it to compete with you? That seems a little foolish doesn’t it?

The three guys that you say has nothing to add are the three guys who are actively doing it for hire. We’ve seen the decline of rates and really the whole segment in general. While it’s not your fault because you are just the latest, but it’s the thousands of others just like you. I’m going out on a limb here, but I assume you’re from the Chicagoland and are an Eastern European.

So please forgive us if we don’t want to help, it’s a matter of survival

That is correct. I wouldn’t give them my client list nor tell them my different tiers of pricing. Now if they are asking about mechanical stuff: no problem. Being safe and legal: no problem. Etc. The limousine industry didn’t have rate crises as trucking is experiencing. I will get back to you after I drop this load off.

Got to appreciate this guys thick skin. If heeds most of what’s been tossed at him, he may do alright.

my two cents is probably worth about one cent. But hauling a load, you should keep notes on placement of pieces that include pictures, weights measurements etc. These help for future projects!
