Yea ive run that road more then once. I tend to just go around. Butt pucker level 10 across that mess.
Google is not your friend. Use an Atlas or at least a truck GPS.

I use Gargoyle maps regularly to get a 2nd option. I also use it for street and satellite views. I rely on my truck GPS that the company provides to compare with Gargoyle maps.
If I ain't ever been there, I research it with all my resources to make a decision.
(Some of you may not get it so I'll explain.. A Gargoyle was a slimy monster in 1960's & 70's movies)

I use Google. But I stay on highways. Often tries to throw me down a goat path.
Trucker61016 and D.Tibbitt Thank this. -
It’s fine if you aren’t stupid and blindly follow it. Stick to numbered state routes and US highways if you’re somewhere you don’t know well. Occasionally I’ll still consult the motor carrier atlas to make sure it’s an okay truck route but usually Google maps if fine if you trip plan correctly

Google is good for real time traffic updates, but I wouldn't use it for much else in a CMV. I prefer two GPS systems, my Garmin and the ELD, along with a map. I put the address into my Garmin, then I compare the route it gives me against a map.
Like @D.Tibbitt said: stick to interstates, U.S. highways, and state highways, IN THAT ORDER.
Even if it's slightly out of the way, I'll reroute my Garmin to stay on a better road. Then I'll put the address into my ELD GPS. I let it run as a backup in case Garmin starts to go crazy, which it does occasionally do, especially when there's an unexpected detour that forces me off the preplanned route.D.Tibbitt Thanks this.
