NOW MY YOUNG FRIEND YOU ARE RIGHT sounds like an outlaw alright but today you don't have to run like that and to run with out insurance is playing a fools game just to much taffic and anything could happen and usally does.
now i don't no who you met or why he is running the way he is but in my expeirence there is usally a reason for it but he is taking one helluva chance and if it happens and he screws up he just lost it all truck, trailer and maybe his home along with it . you can only go so far and stay in business and the worst part today if somthing happens they put you in jail for awhile. best of luck to you. southernpride:biggrin_25514:

now my young friend i don't think anyone thinks your a bad man

young but not bad by any means and the fact tht you want to be a cop does by no means make you bad .

when you get into a conversation with the older generation your opinion and theres will be decidedly different and only time will tell who's right or wrong that buy no means means that your bad it means you have a differeent opinion that is all.

you take care my friend. southernpride:biggrin_25514:

    just curious,
Condocassanova wants to be a cop but has stated that he is 46y/o. if that is true most law enforcement agencies will not hire you unless you have previous government employment on your record. IE: was in the military for 20 years and retired within the last few years. just want to get some clarification because i like research and sometimes people dont do it before they make a decision. maybe tat is the Soldier in me, recieve the mission, plan, then execute?

Almost anyone could qualify to become a DOT officer in some states. Since they don't do anything but commercial vehicle enforcement the physical abilities needed are not real high. I think anyone is pretty capable of getting on a creeper and walking around a truck to inspect it.

There are a lot of states that DOT are all Highway Patrol so those states I think your right it would probably be impossible to do it at that age without a military background.

I saw i dot cop in NY last week so fat he would not beable to fit under a monster truck never mined an over the road truck so tell me how he can inspect a truck properly, guess NY has no yearly physical exam because there's no way in hell this guy would pass.

you know a while ago i was contemplating getting out of the army and going to work for the Baltimore PD and their recruiter was like yea once you pass the initial physical exam and do your required two year contract you wont ever do another PT test or physical again. i couldnt believe it. but maybe that is a way for some agencies to save money? who knows.

I don't think they are the only ones doing that from the looks of it. I've seen more than a few that would NEVER pass a physical exam. When I was 19 I was in pretty good physical shape still from high school doing conditioning class everyday because of football, and I decided to apply with the sherrifs department. I went and did the physical exam and it kicked my arse but I did pass. There were only 7 of us out of 20 that passed it. I decided after several interviews that it wasn't for me so I did not pursue it any further. After doing that physical exam I don't know how some of these guys in law enforcement ever made unless they were subject to the free pass like you mentioned.
