    Bull.

You had an eight year apprenticeship. You got to drive when there was time, and watch when there wasn't. You recieved instruction and feedback. You were given time to demonstrate competence of basic responsibilities before being given more.

Imagine if at 18 you'd never driven anything larger than a Ford Fiesta and then got tossed the keys to a truck and told to "figure it out". The poop would have been flying. Now do it on today's congested roads.

And if you don't think the CDLs are functioning as a gate keeper - have another think. Its a pretty crummy gate, but its better than nothing.

Sadly, I think even a lot of the guys who can read the signs, don't pay attention to them anymore.

I was fixin to make a turn on a county road in Colorado last week. Showed as a good route, but I've learned to look before I turn for signs showing restrictions.

There was a sign after the turn indicating a 35' length limit. I pulled back onto the highway. While merging and looking in my mirrors, another sleeper truck made the turn and kept going.

Maybe he had a delivery down there, but not likely in the remote area I was in.

I notice everyone that comments about how they don’t believe there is a problem, or they are fine with it, or its just racist’s being racist’s are not from the areas were this is originating. Down here in the dirty south it is big business and the cartels are corporations. You can get ssn’s, license’s of any kind, or documentation of work status for a price. It takes work of the officials to prove they are fake because they are very hard to detect as counterfeit. The bottom of the pole Government employees don’t care and don’t the time to investigate every id they see to see if it fake. Also do you actually think when someone asks for your ssn they actually research to see if it really connected to you. They just type in numbers. Like codis if it hasn't been updated with a person there are no links to a person.
We have much, much, more population in the US now then we had 10-20 years ago. Much, much, much more than was “counted” at the last census. Remember 2020 was the last one and we were shutdown due to the political flu. I was never counted and no one in my family was asked. If they sent the form through the mail for you to “honestly” fill out i never saw one and i can bet that most non sheep folks threw those away due to the major lack of trust in the gubment.

It won’t be a problem for born so called Americans that don’t see the problem until they need something they’ve worked hard for like retirement benefits or ssn or even disability only to find out the funds are dried out because the illegals got to it first. But most likely those are the same that will not see that. They will just see it as another racist government or person against them not giving them their share.

At 18 I was driving a 1974 GMC 6000 with a 366 gas / 4spd / 2 spd vacuum 2 speed as well as some Fords and a Chevy C70 with a 453 Detroit later on before I bought the Kenworth. Crawling in a Cabover was quite different than the medium duty trucks, but at least I did have some basic experience for the most part…..

They do. American comes in for interview says I drive for $2 dollar a mile. Illegal from down south comes in and interpreter says he drives for 2 peso’s a mile. Lol.

Not to mention the respect you get from us. We know you and folks like you have truly invested yourself to become part of this country and can be counted on. You are not like the others that refuse to melt in and contribute to the good and take the “benefits” here away from us and send them home to family in the third world.

Some folks just can’t believe that the trucking life started with no training. Driving schools were not heard of until the Nafta and CVSA crap popped up in the 90’s. You were ether born with it or not. Yes. You rode with a Dad or Uncle when you were knee high and learned to drive on your own when you could reach the peddles. That was “training” back then. Lol.

It's part of their business model. Just like drug smugglers. They know they gonna lose a few loads.

Yes there’s a lot of truth in your comment. My training came from taking those drilling rigs in places it was hard to walk let alone drive. We had a Red Devil come along that was well used from pulling on the rigs getting them through creeks and up over steep banks. In Naugatuck WV I had a 850 JD above me against a big tree with the winch cable hooked to the top of the rig, and a 750 JD in front of me pulling through a bad curve. Another dozer guy had filled in a big ravine and never put a drain pipe in it. When it rained it turned into a big sloppy mess! Keep in mind this was on the side of a mountain in a coal mine, not a level field…..
