I see the double blown headlight problem has a lot of buzz, but let me jump back in here to add this.

I don't know all the details of where she was that promped her to call for a tow, but I know this.
    1) I would trust her judgement. She's been accident free for over 10 years before she worked for JB, and all of a sudden she's getting write ups and accidents posted to her DAC for stupid stuff that she wouldn't have gotten at most companies.
    2) If she were in a dark spot over a hill on a section of road with no shoulders, like on a long bridge. And, let's imagine, she was hit by somebody's teenage kid rushing home late at night. Imagine what that kid's car would look like, piled up under her trailer. The stories about her being stupid for calling a tow truck would not only vanish, but there would be instant, unmerciful, knee jerk accusations for why she couldn't simply call a tow truck.

Many of us need to get off making snap accusations and name calling without thinking about putting ourselves in those shoes. If it were us, I doubt the criticism would be a tenth as severe. Would it?

I've worked for them. You will be nothing more than capacity. You will be something less than a real human. Think about it. Do you really expect a company that big to care about any single driver. You will be fine if you put aside any personal expectations and do exactly what they want no questions asked. Their recruiting operation is massive for a reason. And yes they will deceive you if it serves their purpose. Was with them a couple times. I would rather be a starving bum on skid row than ever go back there. :biggrin_25510:

You are so right about not running team. You can not sleep on all these bumpy roads, the most fatigued drivers out on the road today are teams. they are also having the most deadly of accidents! I tell my family watch out for these team drivers! Yet, I hear all companies want nothing more than teams, to drive a 1000 or 1200 miles a day! It is crazy!! My wife and i were team for Covenant once. We made pretty good money at 5000 a week, then we did the dreaded 6800 a week, and guess what? we took home the same amount of money we did for 5000. It was not worth killing ourselves to pay more to the #### government in taxes. Companies do not know #### about this business!!!

LMAO... actually a lot of people missed the point of this thread. How BAD their company is when compared to JB.

Same miles, same ####, less pay.

Companies will be following JB's model. Maybe not 100%. But they will follow it.

$650.00 a week is not good pay for working 70 hrs a week and living in a truck. He should be making at least twice that. You can make that kind of money working at mcdonalds(70 hrs)and sleep in your bed every nite. These big carriers just don't pay hardly anything, but my hat is off to your hard working husband.

Actually, it would depend on where you live.

Would a Detroit Auto Worker go to work for $17 an hour ?? The answer is no. They do it all day in this area....where the average pay is $10 an hour at a GOOD job.

My total household expenditures this week were less than $250. I brought home just over $700. Would you like to add my wife's' income ??

While I am NOT an Obama supporter. There is a point in someones life they realize...there is a very WIDE line between greed and living comfortably.

I OWN my home. Paid for it with one of those "slave wage" jobs everyone hates. While the guy down the street....lost his with a 6 figure job.

We see on TV every day the lifestyle of the rich and famous. We also read in the papers the death, addictions, and issues the chasers of the mighty dollar face.

Why would anyone want to emulate this ?? Better to live quietly and comfortably in my book. It doesn't take a million dollar home, a plastic filled wife, a Harley-Davidson, or an expensive annual vacation.

Life is less stressful in the slow lane. Boring at times too. But we take the good with the bad.

This is an excellent point that too many drivers overlook. I came from one of those small town, good jobs at a regional tanker outfit. I stayed one year, where I averaged $700/week gross. A typical week was 5.5 days(every other weekend off), no routine, was on call with a different run everyday, average day from arriving to leaving work was 13 hours. So 13hrs X 5.5days = 71.5 hours and $700/71.5hrs = $9.79, plus the health benefits were worth another dollar per hour ($360/month for my wife and I divided by 310 avg hrs worked per month). So, $10.79 per hour to haul chemicals and petroleum mostly on two lane roads, hang out in dangerous mills, chemical plants, and refineries watching those union guys make 3
X as much money doing a more favorable job. I beat my head against the wall when regular people defend these companies, and give up fighting for themselves. It makes me sick.
