Hot water will still freeze. The accelerant is to get it to set and cure before the water in the concrete freezes. I also know they use curing blankets too. To help hold in the heat.
I poured mine last December and it was a real concern because it got really cold on the day they poured.

I wouldnt pour a slab on froze ground , might get away with it on a deep footer . Imo
