well that didn’t take long at all. Truckers Paradise of Gainesville, TX is no more. Lots of things led to this, most of which included not paying the bills.

Sorry to see it go, because that’s 150 spots that closed down, it was a good idea though.

Should of figured it wouldn't last. It was a great idea but if someone tries this again they need investors with deep pockets and excellent credit that are willing to go for the long haul.

Exactly. Good concept, not great execution. Unfortunately I don’t see anyone stepping up to do this again.

It would have worked if it had:

    -A UPS type store
    -A LABCORP blood testing lab
    -Alternative medicine specialists
    -Micro apartments
    -Sprouts grocery market
-Free rent for musicians seeking to flee Austin and Nashville.
    -An ultra clean laundromat

Remember, Iowa 80 did not become huge overnight. It took many years of expansion to achieve "World's Largest " status.

I estimate that I drove past there a dozen times over the last year, and had no idea they were there. Not that it matters that much, as a company driver I can only buy fuel at Peelot/Smokin J.

I drove past it today and frankly you could not even tell it was a truck stop. All of the truck parking was behind the building. It looked like a regular shopping center from the highway

Say WHAT???? I would think it's obvious that a business like this which shuts down in a little over a year is certainly NOT "a good idea" in any way, shape, or form.

Remind me to never ask you for any investment advice......

My investment advice is…. Invest in lottery tickets. One day they’ll be winning tickets. :D
