@INRUT yeah I think it was usually the stainless that would require a tarp, maybe aluminum too(?)
I remember guys coming to our place with tarped loads ( mostly from the tube mills) and we’d just unload it and throw it on the ground (outdoor storage)
Gotta be frustrating for the driver but when the manifest says “must be tarped” there’s not much they can do about it…

@booley Don’t think we deliver any stainless or aluminum luckily. Main thing I look for to keep dry is usually strips or sheets. Tubing most places don’t care, storing outside anyway. Yea, I just don’t understand why these mills make drivers tarp beams. Finally getting some rain in forecast down here next week, so I’ll probably have to fold a few tarps unfortunately.

I'm no farmer CKE, but what is that? It looks like bailed corn stalks, or at least too course for straw (like wheat or barley straw).

Baled corn stalks is exactly what it is. For bedding cattle.

I always enjoyed structural but seems like all the places out here in the west coast cant figure out how to load/unload their crap in less than 6 hours... Rather do pre fab to a jobsite instead, always go to some cool places

I worked directly for the fabricators and most of the time the trailers were preloaded. Or I would help…or do it myself. Worked for one fabricator for 20 years, sometimes loading my own truck or just doing material handling in the yard. We had a Link Belt truck crane for loading raw material into the fab shop.
When I started my job at the second fabricator I suddenly wasn’t allowed to touch any of the overhead cranes. I used to chuckle to myself knowing that I had probably forgotten more about rigging than some of their guys knew…
