I always tell the desk clerk about the product and it's venting nature.
That it's normal and isn't smoke.
Had several folks over the years call 911 and report a fire.
The dept has to respond and they wake the driver, who now is on duty, and has to explain how the trailers and the product work..piaviper822004 Thanks this. -
Christ, thats the bad stuff too. When I was trained on Aqua Ammonia, we had to watch a vid of a trooper dying when He was overtaken by a cloud of anhydrous. I'd love to know what happened. I cant imagine the driver not noticing a leak when he did his post trip....if he did one. I'm wondering if someone messed witha valve. I'd also like to know if the driver was airgas or a third party hauling their trailer. This is going to be a huge lawsuit and could have very serious consequences for us being able to stay at or near hotels.
EDIT** Found some info. Apparently it was a leaky valve or a seal. The driver went to check in and when he came out it was leaking. https://www.oklahoman.com/story/new...-oklahoma-evacuation-weatherford/87248302007/Last edited: Nov 15, 2025
Friend and viper822004 Thank this. -
So last few trucking companies I've had there's been hardly any paperwork per load:
-J.B.Hunt had 1 sheet for Ross Dress for Less stores
-Legacy Band, Cavaliers, Blue Knights were all marching bands...no BOLs
-10 Roads Express had 1 small paper slip from U.S.P.S. distribution.
How much does cryo work for bulk tank have?Friend and viper822004 Thank this. -
Depends.
Most have gone electronic so basically around 5 to 10% have manual proof of delivery paperwork, and some only require a physical copy of analysis but we just leave it in a tubeviper822004 Thanks this. -
Not much if you work for the private fleets. Most of it is electronically through our phones.
Third party transport companies have quite a bit since they cant use our in-house software.Friend Thanks this. -
When I was with Southern Pines. We just filled out a paper that the plant gave us. Pretty much said starting and ending inches, pressure and etc if I remember it right. Then left it in the paperwork drop off box/tube at the customer. If they have one. If they don't then no paperwork for them. I remember one where a previous driver just left the paperwork on the knobs. Which isn't smart. Some places I question how often they even check the paperwork box. Because I remember some with possibly a couple months old papers in it
Friend and viper822004 Thank this. -
It depends. If you have several stops and each requires a CofA, proof of delivery, Customer info sheet, and the manifest, you can get quite a piles. But we average 1-2 stops per tank show usually 3-5 sheets.Friend and viper822004 Thank this.

My first post. Thank you drivers for posting this valuable information on this forum. Thanks to you, I am interested in a career change to cryo.
I am 50, have 4 years safe driving (2.5 yrs fuel tanker) and all endorsements, TWIC, and passport based in Indianapolis. Gross 120k/yr for 65 hrs/wk
Cali Kid said LH2 teams gross 200k+ easy per driver. Is that only in CA? Can I do that somewhere in the midwest? Does hydrogen pay more than other cryo? Is that only at Airgas or do Linde or AP also have 200k+ team driver positions? Denixx says a Linde driver who tries hard in Minnesota can gross 150k, so teams that gross 150k/driver are not interesting to me.
Thank you all for your help.Friend and viper822004 Thank this. -
Hey and welcome.
You can make that as a team driver at AP hauling hydrogen. But our teams come out of Cali, Houston, and New Orleans. You would have to be in those areas if you wanted to team up and haul hydrogen for Air Products. I think they also have some out of Canada.
You might also be able to make $180k as a team driver hauling helium out of our plant in Liberal, Kansas.Cali kid Thanks this.
