I copied this from an email that was sent to me from a U.S. Xpress recruiter. It is showing me a couple of options they are offering to me as a student driver.
The one I am showing here is for regional, and I know I'm new to trucking, but I'm not new to the workforce.
The mileage pay seems way too high for an inexperienced driver.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

That 80 cents a mile sounds way too good to be true for someone just starting out.
Usually new drivers get paid less until they have some time behind the wheel. The 650 dollars a week during training feels about right, but do not expect that mileage rate right away.

Definitely ask them to clear it up, better to know what is real than get your hopes up.

My guess is most runs are short runs because it's a dedicated account. Assessorial pays look ok also.
Detention pay starts after 2 hours, but remember you're also getting stop pay which cover the 2 hours wait for detention pay to kick in. Not bad for a new driver right out of school.

Yeah, the OTR position pays less per mile but the miles you get per week are more.
So I guess that's how they make up for the lower cpm.

When they list "average" as a range you know they're jerking your chain.
Start with the low number of 1100mi/week That's average. You will get less than average. Daily at 300mi is $240. How do you feel about $225/day?
Willingness to go NYC not required. Doesn't say you get to opt out. You might get routed to NYC willing or not.
Look at the lowest numbers and expect less. Don't get all starry eyed thinking about big money. Nobody is paying more than necessary. You wrote "as a student driver". Have a license already? Is 7000 reimbursement lump sum on day one or over time? Is it a truck or a ball and chain?

You won’t think $0.80 is too good to be true when you’re rolling at 2 mph stuck in NE traffic, lol.

Expect 1,000 miles a week if you’re lucky and then you’ll get a clear picture.

They straight up tell you that you will get crap miles every week…

The company pays no penalty for exaggerating anything. You live with the reality, even if it's very different than what you thought the company was promising. BTW, they are not promising anything.

As for CDL school tuition reimbursement TR, That may have a stipulation the TR is only paid if you have an outstanding school loan. So if you got a parent to loan you the money or you paid tuition from your bank account, guess who is NOT getting TR from the trucking company.

Since this offer is about working in the Northeast, where do you plan on parking every day? The Northeast and L.A. and San Francisco are the most difficult places in the country to find truck parking.

Detention pay is like Bigfoot. It may exist, some even claim to have seen it. You get it about 10-25% of the time you think you were going to see it. If the appointment is first come, first served (FCFS) it may be impossible to get detention pay. Or that customer that held you for 6 hours may be the big customer on the account where Detention pay does not ever get charged. Or your first customer on a multi-drop drop took more time than expected and you will be late at all subsequent customers, so no Detention pay for you (you're arriving later than appointment time). Or the dreadful traffic in the friendly NE means you arrive late, so no Detention for you.

ALMOST nobody keeps working at their first company much beyond a year. As you do the job and learn the reality, you learn other trucking companies do things differently and so you work at a place you now know fits you better than the first company. So, ignore the 2nd year and beyond stuff unless you have something that makes it hard to get hired by other companies.

"But the customer doesn't pay detention!"

I don't give a chrome plated crap what the customer pays. That's a you problem. I'm the one being held up and prevented from making a living. You'll either pay me for that time, or you'll tell me where you want me to drop the truck off. Did you get that, or do I have to write it out in crayon?

    Northeast regional is torture
    Lots of traffic.
When not in traffic and away from the coast then you got many hills.
Winter is snow storms all the time there.
Worst region in country to find parking but best region to find low bridges.
