Exports from Canada have always been well but imports are the problem when trying to establish reloads from the Usa. The States are the biggest market and Tariffs are starting to show regarding the Usa Exports to Canada. Realistically, the Canadian market is to small oppose to avoid the Ameircan market. Larger carriers are running 80% LTL for their reloads back into Canada because its not the majority of carriers who have direct customers. I'm currently in negotiations with a couple carriers (trying to figure which one I should sign on with) and even the owners are explaining their issues with reloads and layovers. Major problems, which is why many mid to larger size carriers have closed shop in the last couple months. Times are tough.cascadia4life and OldeSkool Thank this.

This is all about business; being empty does not mean it is a bad thing.
As mentioned, people are going home.
Others are moving to get a load.
How do you see inside a trailer?

Since October when crossing back to go home, a customs agent one time asked, 'empty again?'. We talked about the economy and she kept saying she heard exactly what I am saying from a lot of carriers. Not much freight (reloads) back to Ontario, Canada. Most know its because of Tariffs taking affect. The one broker who has me on a steady lane has been covering a good rate of $4.15/mile that covers the short miles going into the weekend in order of starting me off Monday but the challenge start there. Covering the rest of the week with a reasonable reload back to Ontario has been the biggest challenge since the beginning of fall. There are still too much trucks so carriers are running back empty
