After high school:
Worked in a factory for 5 months and hated it.
Joined the USAF and served 12 years.
After the AF, worked for a microfilming company, sold insurance for awhile and ended up being a VP of a pro photo lab.
I was bored and my kids were grown so went to driving school. I drove for a little over 9 years and then retired. Now I get to sit around and drink beer.![]()

I was a and still am a Paramedic. I make better money driving a truck though. I have met lawyers, nurses and even a retired judge and one doctor who all drive trucks now. The Doctor told me it was his dream all his life to be an OTR driver. He just had to be a doctor long enough to pay off all the student loans and raise his kids he said it only took him 20 years to finally make it out here.

US Army 4 yrs,
Then a stint as a groundskeeper at a zoo.
Then a woman I dated at the zoo, her father was high up in the Federal Aviation Admin. Helped get me into Air Traffic Control. I did that for 3 yrs and caught the ##### in bed with someone else. Broke up and father had me blackballed afterwards. So I quit that job. It was fun while it lasted.
Then I worked as a warehouseman/truck driver at nuclear plant construction site.
Got laid off from that and started my trucking career to see the country. I seen it about 20 times and still going. -
Hey, I'm coming from a 20+ year as a courier I drove a small pick up truck and replaced it about every 3-4 years as it was wore out, I would put 200K-350K on a truck in that short of a time, I was in all positions in this field when I had a run in with a dispatcher that had favorites and I wasn't one of them, so I saw what he had done and I called him on it and he denied it, So I told them over the 2-way radio there were no "Nextel Direct Connect" or anything at the time that "Don't give me any more work I will be in to speak with you about this" I immediately drove to the office and took my radio out of my truck and turned in my paperwork and then told the owner of the company that his dispatcher had just made a very critical decision about his livelyhood and that I was leaving to start my own company, I also told this owner that his company would be sold it as little as 3 years because I have made connections with most all of his customers and they see the disgruntled drivers day in and day out, I also told him that half of his "Good Drivers" would be employeed by me within the year of my departure. So I left and started my own delivery service doing deliveries all over the Phoenix Arizona area, I then hired a driver and had a route that she ran for me then I added a few more routes and more of this said companies customers would switch over and about a year and a half into it I got a call from the owner of the company that I had left and he offered me a position as his operations manager as he had seen the way that I had in the short time of leaving him, I told him "No" I'm doing fine here and I'm not giving up my business that is growing everyday your guys make a mistake, I told him that there are customers looking for a reason to leave you, I said you keep sending me business, Why would I fold this up and come back to you when you didn't try to keep my when I left there in the first place? I continued to build that business while my wife still worked and she did the billing on the weekends then I told her that it was time for us to put our efforts together and we did, Shortly after that we opened our first office a small office that we had out grown in a few months and then we moved into a larger office where we increased our staff as it continued to grow, About 4 and 1/2 years into this business my wife who had become my office manager and partner became preganant with our first child as we had been married for 8 years and were looking at adpoting a child since she was having troubles getting prego, So I told her when she had the baby that she could stay home with the baby and that I would find a replacement for her position, I then found that I could not find anyone who did the job as well as her, I then received a phone call from a competitor who was trying to take several of my accounts and then they would say, No they were not chagning that my company was very good and they had no problems with us,This competitor tried in everyway to funnel the companies business from us but it didn't work, So I told him to make me an offer on the business and that he would have a good business if he treated his(my) customers right. So I sold the company I had built from the ground up to a multi million dollar company in just 5 very short years, In the sale of the company I was hired by the buyer as a accounts rep. to keep everyone as they were and to transition his company over to the computer dispatched system that I was using, So I did that, I was finished with that after 6months and left him and did a bunch of different things after my 5 year non compete was up I started a new delivery service and with the economy I find it difficult to get companies to switch over to me, So I shut the doors on that in Sept. 2009 and here I am starting school on Monday to go another 20 years in the trucking business which dream I had as a child when me and my family would travel acrossed the country I wanted to drive OTR and so here I go at the age of 45 filling a childhood dream. Taske Care be safe. Treydavid.

Boy TD you sure are long winded.
I was a computer tech, then worked corrections and with at-risk youth in a detention alternative program. I worked on getting my Bachelors in Social and Criminal Justice to work in the court system, I wanted to be a Probation Officer. I changed my mind about that and now been unemployed since September and always talked about driving a truck so here I go.

I was an IT business analyst who ended up in a lousy tier 2 support job. I automated many of my own processes in an effort to get a promotion. Instead, I worked myself out of my own job and got laid off (again). I took a hit in pay to be a trucker but have never looked back.
