    What rich_t said!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GIVE IT A REST. THIS IS NOT THE THREAD FOR THIS. This constant back and forth is what gets threads locked.

If you want to continue this discussion start another thread on it. This thread is for DB to entertain us with stories of folks that can't quite figure out how to run legal.
I for one am entertained by the creative ways that folks come up with to break the laws. If they spent as much time getting creative with ways of how to follow the laws the gooberment wouldn't try so hard to come up with new laws.

    Or would they?

Their pocket books would certainly be thicker if they followed the laws.

Brick, the only problem I see, is that if everybody followed the law, then the guvmnt would have to come up with new ways to raise money. . .

As far as the troll is concerned, I'm sure you guys can figure out how to "handle" him!:biggrin_2559:

I do like to hear from DB! It is an education for me, of a side of law enforcement that I never got into. I don't mean the excuses, we have all heard some pretty outrageous ones. But the stupidity of some folks really can be entertaining, and educating!

If nothing else, it points out the kinds of driver's we must all "defend" ourselves from, through "defensive driving."

why the hell do people think they can get away with all this? Dont they realize everything is computerized and mostly linked? About the only departments not linked are us and canadian customs!

I have to say though, i have on more than one occasion seen officers write wrong dates and times on inspection reports. I refuse to falsify my log to match these. I will however note why its off.

I also point out that these officers should be fined. If i was a couple hours off on a fuel stop, wouldn't you fine me? ;)

State cop in a plain white pulled over a 4-wheeler just ahead of me. They are off on the gravel shoulder, but his car is right on the white line. I slowed down quite a bit, since there was no room to move over (2-lane road, just past an intersection and there is a concrete curb separating the Sorthbound and Southbound traffic).

Cop should have checked his mirror, but he didn't. Or maybe he looked, saw me slowing and assumed I was turning left. That door of his swung open and out he jumps. When my trailer started bouncing, he finally looked. I got stopped...but it was still stupid on his part. If I hadn't been paying attention...or if he had waited just a hair longer to open the door and step out, he would have kissed my grill.:biggrin_2555:

I've done this stupid sheet before as well. Why? I don't know you get comfortable and think everyone will move over or stop. As someone who has been "grazed" with a passer by mirror, I learned my lesson. A mirror at 55 mph or faster will knock the wind out of you and give you a new appreciation for life. My old shift partner was on the side of the road in a sectioned off roadway with cones and flares walking the line replacing the flares when a drunk driver who was a .10 and also high on weed struck and nearly killed him in 2003. A full size Chevy pickup at 48 mph at impactthrew him over the cab, striking his face on the top corner of the windshield, slicing his lip, knocking out 6 teeth, and massive facial and internal injuries. A broken tibula, ribs, and arm. After 7 months of rehab he was back on the road and still out there every day. Will definately make you think before you jump out and tend to business.

I saw an event less than a week ago on Highway 90 westbound in MS. A young city cop overshot a 4-wheeler he had the lights on. The 4-wheeler made a dive into a turning bay and the cop pulled up short right beside the 4-wheeler, but in the right lane of the 2 westbound lanes. The car in front of me was behind the cop but had to make a quick veer left into the left lane of the 2 lanes to avoid rear-ending the cruiser. The cop jumped out of his cruiser just as the driver veered to come alongside the cop. Nearly a bad, bad scene!!
