Primes lease is in reality along term rental. I can tell you with some authority ( have been involed in part of the dealings with) that when you rent a truck from ryder they pay all maint(including washes) all fuel taxes and all licensing, and you provide liability and fuel. Primes deal at least when I talked to them included none of that

    And?

In both cases what we're talking about is a business proposition that involves leasing a tractor to move freight. Each deal involves certain compensation and costs. Any lease can be called "long term rental." Have you ever "rented" an apartment? If you notice, the document used to conclude the "rental" agreement is usualy called "a lease."

Ryder, Prime. They are different deals. Duh!

Prime pays for washes every two weeks. Prime leases a tractor that's covered by warranty for the full term outside of consumable wear and tear items. Fuel taxes? You pay for fuel at the pump with Ryder don't you? Guess what? You're paying IFTA fuel taxes.

OTOH, Prime's insurance costs are built into the lease payment. LIcense and permits are paid by the operator in weekly payments.

Bottom line... if Ryders deal works for you - great! If Prime's doesn't - great! BFD.

On company trucks, yes. On lease trucks, I wish.

So, are you going to offer anything useful to the discussion, or just more zoology?

I'm still waiting for something real to be posted here showing what a crock that leasing at Prime is.

And if it is such a crock, then why have they been successful for 40 years? Why are there 100's of independent contractors at Prime making good money and who are satisfied with what they are doing? If Prime is such a rip-off, then there should be 100's of angry people needing bullet-proof glass to separate them from the "evil" management types. That doesn't exist in Springfield or any of the other terminals...

You guys are full of it.

    Comment removed by moderator, inflammatory
A few years back, I believe they covered tractor washes. At any rate, mine gets washed every couple of weeks. No charge out of my pocket.
