Well now wait a minute!! That's just a little bit different. All that comes as a package deal!

I know they didn't do it in their trucks...But it wasn't uncommon to stop and "water a tire" as some used to say.
People had better hygene in general in the old days...and a lot better manners.
If I was grubby enough to even consider doing that...I would certainly never admit it to anyone.
Exactly!
There used to be communal showers in some truckstops but they pretty much went away by the mid eighties.
Same thought crossed my mind the instant that I read his post!
Aljay Thanks this. -
It was late, I was trying to deal with the kids... Bad part was only after I posted that did I realize I made a grave error!Aljay Thanks this.

About the only place you'll find a communal shower is on a Basic training base! I haven't seen one in the truck stops since the early 80's as they were all changed to "private" showers which were a shower stall at the end of a cubicle (walls and a door) with a bench on one of the walls. They evolved to what we have today in the lines of a Bathroom at home with toilet shower and sink with most of them having a bench. I do not take my own wash rag or towel as they are supplied and I don't want the extra dirty clothes in the truck! I DO carry 1 extra towel and wash rag for use in unusual times. I also carry a bathing suit for when I MUST shower on the cat walk behind the sleeper! The last time while parked on Meeker Ave in Brooklyn on a Friday evening while waiting on a load! It didn't come in till Sunday but I was clean and had a great time that night! I'll stay in Brooklyn anytime over a truck stop in the area as it's more fun than a truck stop, I can eat cheaper than a Truck stop and the beer is better than at a Truck stop!
I also have found that a bleach bottle (1 gallon) is the best thing to use in the truck as the bleach keeps it smelling nice and it is emptied only in grassy areas down storm drains or thrown away in the trash. You can't always make it into a building or even be near one when nature calls. At least I don't pull it out anymore like the old days and water a tire in the parking lot! Now for those of you who would never doodle where you sleep you can go to jail for dropping your pants next to the truck! I have a small square trashcan in the truck where my trash goes. I use those scented trash bags from Wallyworld. Now in case of emergency you're darn tooting I'll use the trash can! I'm not dropping them outside of the truck ever again!
Reason being I was stuck in heavy Charlotte traffic one day in the early 80's and was looking for some place to pull over as the closest truck stop was 10 miles behind me! I pulled off onto a get off ramp and grabbed my paper towels and bailed and got between the tank and drive tires and dropped and pooped! As I was "finishing up" I looked up and to my surprise I was looking into the windows of a restaurant and every window there had people looking down the hill at me! Now I was totally embarrassed! You can imianage how I felt! I finished and got the heck out of there hoping that no one could read the name on the side of my truck! So unless you are EXTREMELY REGULAR have that back up! Put a new bag in the trash can do your business, close the bag and put into another bag and put it in a TRASH CAN and not on the ground! Lysol spray after you finish and open the windows! If you think it'll never happen to you as in never going in the truck then I'll give you $1000 bucks to bet at Vegas as you must be the luckiest driver in the world! I've even had to use it at shippers and receivers who have no toilets for truckers because of the nasty arsed ones before we were there that ruined that for us! And if you think you'll never sit in traffic...I want some of that koolaide you're sucking on!
There might not be a nice wooded area off to your right but someones back yard! If I saw a driver jump my fence and drop his he'll be looking down my 12 gauge and learning a lesson real fast! I don't care if you have to go! You should have something in that truck for an emerency such as you're having right now! Because he didn't want that "stuff"in his truck he darn sure isn't leaving it in my back yard! He'll be using that roll of TP to roll it up and take it away with him!
Yes some of you dainty drivers might be cringing at this but this isn't like driving a car where you can pull of on any ramp or road or street because nature calls! You're in something 48' to 80' long and pulling into BFE to the Hidey Hole gas stop might not work! The smell will be gone in a few minutes and if you don't keep that bag of stuff in the truck long it wont osmosis through the plastic! One warning: DO NOT USE these bags from the stores that you have your snacks and such in. They LEAK! Thia is from experience! Get the 8 gallon sented trash bags or something similar that will not leak!
FYI a driver came out with a portable shower for the truck! I've seen one but the cost is to much but for those of you who just have to shower every day this will work for you if you can't get to a T/S that day. Me, I'll just keep using the gallon jug and bathing suit!Schmidtrock and 48Packard Thank this. -
I am one of the lucky one's, as far as going to the bathroom #1 maybe twice a day,
#2 Once every two days(loL) i know to much info.
But my question is what about drivers that are like my brother inlaw,he goes to john 3-6 times a day,and thats the #2.
He has rode with me and out of the blue he starts screaming and makeing noises,he tells me to speed up .
I did get to a public restroom and (i know it's not funny )
But if you could see how he waddled ,he came back sweat dripping off him.
Needless to say the trip was only 120 miles, but we stopped 6 or 7 times round trip (240 miles)
I asked him if he needed to see a dr and he said no,cause they said the same thing that he just had a nervous stomach?
But i cant figure out why he was nervous? And i talked to my sister and they cant go out to eat and then go to a movie,he just stays at home
Matter of fact my sister supports his ###,but what was funny he has thought about driveing

My grandpa built his own house and it had a Bath room WITH a bath tub and a sink etc but no toilet! He built the fanciest out house you ever saw right by the back fence ! It had electric light, natural gas heat, concrete floor, brick walls, sink and a flushing toilet! His was one of those Cast Iron ones with the tank mounted 5 feet up on the wall with a chain that hung down to flush it with. He also had concrete sidewalk from the house to it. He said "Ain't Nobody doing that s### in my house!"
Iceman_biker Thanks this. -
He's probably got that Irritable Bowel Syndrome- I know a couple people who have it and they are exactly as you describe.
Something tells me if he went into driving, he wouldn't make very good time...
