db.....im curious how do you get reciepts from drivers? I havent read this whole thread but it seems like you make a habit of matching reciepts to log books. I've never one been asked to show a reciept at a stop. If a driver doesn't have one in plain view, do you search his truck or what?

There was a post on this forum where a driver went throgh the toll booth in Maine and was pulled over for a level 1. The logs did not match the time.

Some drivers at my company have been pulled over in Oklahoma in the toll booth area and their logs checked.

It does happen, but not every day.

I'm on electronic logs...a pain at first, but still possible to make money with them. Mr. DB, if faced with e-logs, do you even waste your time with them? I've heard some will request faxes and some will ask to see the backup blank paper log book.

I went through a PA inspection station. Officer asked for my log book and I handed him my Qualcomm. He asked what he was supposed to do with it and I told him it was my log book. He asked what it was telling him. I pointed to the "remaining hours" block on the corner and told him that was how many hours I had left to drive. (It was over 10 hours.) He handed me back the QC and said, "Have a nice day." Have the DOT officers been versed in these things or is it learn as you go?

    Just curious...

And thank you for all the stories...very entertaining.

They know that the margin for error while possible is much lower and they are better off spending their time with non electronic logs.

I've heard the same thing about DDL, often times the dot bear will just glance at the previous day's print out and tell the driver to haul freight.

Well...... CDOT has stopped hassling me ever since I had a special Vin made just for them...
although....How come when I deadheaded, they had me to stop on every axle? :smt102
That happened at both the Fruita and Lawson (W/O Idaho Springs) coops today.....

Apparently they liked the look of your rig. They wanted you to hang around as long as they could make you. :biggrin_25523:

Are you referring to on the side of the road, while you are inspecting someone? Because I was under the impression they don't release Ez-Pass records without a warrant in a criminal case.
