If you stay long enough there will be a few that become lifelong friends no matter if you both stay or not.. Trust me.. I was in your shoes 7 years ago.. Even though I can't quit laughing I can tell you that you're in the same rare position I was years ago.. Believe it or not it gets a lot better when you start making serious cash and get to watch your ballistic buddy explain a massive automotive purchase to his wife when you're single and talked him into it..lol..

When you do make the nice money you'll look back and laugh.. The other real close friend I have here is about 8 years older than me and we started at the same time but we ended up a different terminals once the one all three of us started at was closed.. We still talk daily and laugh about the lean times when we started here.. We were stuck in the city and didn't have enough seniority to run line-haul yet back then.. We had enough seniority at the time to hold 10:30 starts and were both running real light on a horrible black ice day across I80 in Pa.. I had a pup and he had a 48 - I was blown into the median and he missed a massive wreck by inches but we both made it out without an accident.. Ballistic Mike with no trucking fear managed to get a set all the way across Pa that day - he had to sleep away from home for 3 nights while Dan & I turned around and went home..lol.. You'll end up remembering the lean times with stories like this that make you laugh.. stick it out man - I make .55 and 23 whereas you'll make .66 and 26..

Give it a few years man..

    The beater..

    The car and truck..

The house.. Nothing great but it's brand new..

The Denali, the Charger R/T, and the house..

Stick it out at a good LTL company and it can be pretty good - I'm 110% debt free running line-haul at Con-way.. Plus there is a classic that still resides at my parents house..

This is a pic of the Charger I took 5 minutes ago on a smoke break.. It moves and could get me in a ton of trouble..lol.. So does she..

They got me in a ton of trouble but it is what it is..

tata's make everything ok.. those are old tata pics but I figured they might help a fellow LTL'r get through the day.. Maybe I'm not right but the story of ballistic mike will get me through the next month - since I know him I can picture the incredible speed that the break and re-hook took place on residential streets in Brooklyn, NY all while wearing a big no trucking fear grin. I guarantee he was grinning ear to ear doing about 45 with his bobtail going the wrong way with about an inch on either side - it just makes me laugh so hard I still have tears in my eyes.. It's every line-haulers nigh mare that the set has to be broken and I can tell you he was not phased even in Brooklyn.. He'd break his set in the middle of I95 during a road closure to save 15 minutes and even the NJSP would be in awe of the speed and precision.. Just one of those things I'll always remember and I'm glad he's one of my Con-way peeps..lol..
