Sunday night and ready for skills and driving tomorrow. It will be my day to do the pre-trip inspection so I am ready to go. Pretty exciting to think by the end of the week I could be a Class A license holder and be ready to drive a truck. Until tomorrow.

    DAY 10

AWESOME day, started the day as my morning for the pre-trip. From my own count I missed 10 and you can miss 17 I think if you miss 18 you fail. Other student did the 1st drive today to the yard then more skills practice. Parallel still a bit rough but worked on the setup better and got it done 4 times in a row. SETUP is the trick, and watch the 1st bend. We then set up a 45 for the 1st time, that was a piece of cake 3 times right in a row. The guy I am in class with wants to go to May and they have you do a 45 1st day of orientation along with a skills drive. We spend 4 hours practicing all the skills today pretty much have them all down.

Went to lunch once again at the Pilot at 99th Ave and I-10.

Now it was my turn to drive on the road. Very confident did well with my up and down shifting. Corners were good, really good day driving today, no issues, the instructor sat back relaxed just telling me left or right I did the rest myself. AWESOME I think I am ready just a bit more practice on the parallel and I am good but on the skills you can miss 13 I think it is so the other 2 I have down pat so I have 12 points to lose. :biggrin_25522:

I am getting anxious to hit the road things are progressing well. I am happy to almost be done.

    Until tomorrow......:biggrin_255:

Hey Sounds like you are "The Man" I started school tonight, I went to the campass and I went to where they said the office was and they had a flyer telling me where the office and classes had been moved to, So I jump back in my car and all the way to the other end of the campass and go up stairs and speak with the receptionist and she knows nothing of a CDL class starting today, She asks me "Do I know who my instructor is? I said no so she goes back to the gals office who I have been in contact with and she has in her box fliers to the OFF CAMPASS location that I here again was never informed of, She hands me the flier and away I go after stating that I was not informed that this was not where the classes were taking place and that they are much closer to me living in Avondale so I go south down 59th Ave. to the street and pull up in front of the building and oh the mail box says "GCC CDL Course studies" I get out go in and find my instructor and tell him oh I went to the campass and then luckily found my way here... So I didn't miss much or orientation and we started the class in the booklet and it is going well, I have to vent here as this gal has 2 of my phone numbers and my email address this same thing happened as I was going to get my Physical, I get to the location on the form she sent me and they say "Oh no we have not been doing that here for 14 months" I call her and she sends me in the right direction again not a big deal but why is this crap happening to me? To teach me patients? Man I have patients just not for stupid mistakes. Ok "RANT" over, My instructor is "Rich" so CAGE if that is who I am supposed to pick let me know and I will let him know as soon as possible. Thanks. TD

You will find this happens ALOT even when actually doing this job, people give an address you show up and they go ohhh no we wanted you to goto our warehouse over here. But they never tell anyone that, so you show up and find out or do what I do and call ahead and ask where they want the stuff dropped.

YES I believe Rich is who Debbie said was one of the better instructors there. Ask him if he knows Debbie from Western Truck School.

    DAY 11

Other student on pre-trip this morning. He did pretty good. We are both thinking about out testing coming up. My day to drive 1st and let me tell you it was fun. The 7am rush in Phoenix was great. I drove for about an hour then we got to the yard to practice skills. Today we practiced each of them 2x's. We started with the 100 foot straight back piece of cake. Next we did the Offest Back Left again no problem. Next was the Parallel Park, 2 times still some minor issue I think we each did this about 10 times. We then moved on to the 45 alley dock, no problems once again.

Went to lunch again at the Pilot at 99th Ave and I-10. Deserted one maybe we will catch you there tomorrow or Thursday.

After lunch other guy drove about an hour then I jumped in the seat for about an hour then back to the school. We went over some mapping and a few other things.

I am ready to get this testing done and over with.

    Until tomorrow......
