It all comes crashing down for me when I turn 30 in a few months.. Fortunately for me I found an LTL gig when I was 22 so I guess I'll just keep working my way up the board - last count was high 60's out of over 160 on the board.. If I count my class B time I'll be a 12 year trucker at 30 though..lol..

If I could do a rewind I would be a union driver for the pension.

    It's no big deal...

When I turned thirty, Everyone told me it was gonna be a big deal...It wasn't.
When I turned 40 everybody told me I was gonna freak out and have a hard time with it...I didn't.
When I turned fifty everybody said it was gonna be traumatic and I'd probably get depressed and ####...I didn't.
I turned 55 eariler this month...Now I get discounts on food at dennys.:biggrin_25523:

    No big deal!

It's all in your head...the age thing. I feel as good now as I did at thirty and I have more energy than a lot of guys that I know that are a LOT younger...

I guess I'm not the type to trip on stuff like that!

    jakebrake12 and Freebird135 Thank this.

I thought the same thing when I turned 30... blackw900 is right- it's just a number.

Best thing I ever did was quit smoking, I feel better now than when I was 25.

Con-way Freight is as non-union as an LTL outfit can get but they pay me enough peso's to forget it.. The pension plan was eliminated here and lumped into the 401K but 100K to drive a truck is just A OK with me.. My fellow drivers who pushed the new 70 log here last week made like $2200.. Since I'm a slacker I only made like $1600 since I called off Monday night.. At times I question my job but for everything holy, $2200 a week driving a truck? Even though we went from 60 hour to 70 hour logs this late in the year we'll have a bunch of line-haul drivers over 100K this year..

When I was 25 I was teasing an older driver about bein' "over the hill" and belongin' to the strikeout club with the ladies...He just laughed and said, "I used to think the same way when I was your age...But when you get to be this age, you'll find out that this is where you really start to enjoy life!"

He was right...I never had as much fun at 25 as I did at 45 and I'm still havin' fun now!

You young'uns will see sooner than you think.
