I haven't been to a Walmart in over ten years other than unloading at their DC's.I get everything I need at the Dollar General and Walgreens.

I wish I could do that. We've got a KMart and a mallwart within 30 miles of me. They're the closest places to get much. The KMart doesn't have groceries, so, and I feel like needing a shower when I leave, mallwart is the only option I know of. They drove out most everyone.
Meijeir had planned on opening a store, but the economy took it's dump. I suspect mallwart has profited greatly from that. The cheap crap they sell is all anyone can afford in my neck of the woods. Unfortunately, mallwart hasn't helped in that they do nothing but perpetuate the problem. :biggrin_25510:

THD & zfei have seen it. For I to worked in the "Unloader Associate". The workers could care less about your $2000 plasma TV. 25% of stock unloaded out of the trailers had to be returned from improper loading. Walmart really needs to work on their quality control, because their workers could care less.

As to Walmarts expansion. Anybody remember Grant's? How they exploded with new stores opening daily? 15 years or so ago they opened a brand new store in Ellsworth. Now they closed that one and have opened a "bigger better store"? They are going through awful lot of money.

Someday who knows, they could become the satire of the movie Wall-E (Buy N Large).

Those WM Employees that work in the actual stores are treated like nothing more than slabs of meat. I don't care what store you go to nor time of day. those poor souls, are treated worse than slaves (especially in the non management levels).

One example: Now I am sure that most of you have seen their stocking carts. Each worker, MUST be able to put up 4 to 5 of those things slap ### full, to the shelves within 2 - 3 hours, while at the same time help customers, take out their trash, adjust shelving so it all looks picture perfect, run & do price checks, etc. If they fail just one time, they are taken to the office & written up. a 2nd time, written up, a 3rd time, they are tossed. Unless you work 3rd shift, forget about any sort of normalcy whe it comes to schedualling or pay.

3rd shift is the only shift you have any chance of making any money, a whole wopping $1 for shift differ, not to mention a better shot of being able to work a full time job (Under 40 hrs of course - typicly 32 - 38 hrs) And don't you dare be one click over on your schedualed hrs, or you will be written up.

1st & 2nd shifts - Forget about getting a full time position, unless it's a mgnt position. They've cut all of that out. You are now lucky to get between 24 - 30 hrs. & They choose which days & which hrs you come in at. I know at the store I worked at, they have some folks come in at 5am - 9am, or 7am - 11 am or 2pm; string them out to be working 5 - 9 days straight in a row before giving them a day off. Oh, and getting 2 days off together? Forget that All together. The only way you get that is if you are truely sick & have to call in, or you have made a buddy in management. Other than that, it will never happen. Hell, my wife has worked for them for over 3 years & have yet to get a Sunday of, much less a Saturday & Sunday.

And definately forget about your freedom of speach with these folks. I am serious!! They have a policy in place (PD-47 I think) that states something to the effect that if their workers are found "talking" about the company, fellow workers, management or its procedures in any other way than in a positive note, in "ANY PUBLIC Forum, venue, or Place, as well as on places like Face-Book or even in emails" They will be terminated. PERIOD!! & Yes! They have fired many using this policy using the grounds of Gross Misconduct to terminate the worker.

God, I could go on & on about the things I've seen at these stores over the years, and a lot of it would make your stomach curdle. & For that idiot that thinks that most of their employees enjoy working there, well, all I can say is he's either going through the fog without a clue, or he's another smoked filled BS'er Manager for the company. Sorry buddy, but this isn't the life & world at wal-greens.

No, the purpose is to UNIONIZE Walmart because UNION private sector jobs have dropped to record lows (less than 7%).

    I am an idiot??
I guarantee you wouldn't say that to my face.......
Second of all, I don't know what gives you "freedom of speach" to talk about ANY employer in a negative manner, it sure isn't in the Constitution.

Thank you for your service, but neither MY rights (nor yours) originate from another person's "service".
And if you feel you "wasted 8 1/2 years".......well that really isn't my problem, is it?
