Really?
I call shippers and recievers all the time...I always have. Sometimes I get unloaded early because I spoke to someone at the reciever.
Sometimes I get loaded early or find out that there's gonna be a long wait so I stop and eat or whatever needs to be done on the way in.
If you want to, You can rely on someone else to get YOUR information for you but it's a lot smarter to get control of the situation yourself.
KLLM not like it used to be

As you said lesson learned...another example of watching the calendar and PLANNING your holiday weekend hours. good luck for your future runs! -
Wait a minute>>>Why call thew shipper about the receiver? HMMMM?
Forget calling the shipper as it's the receiver you REALLY needed to talk to!
Even if it's a broker load, gat all the information on the receiver as they are the one thats taking the load off not the people who put it on. They could care less.
The money is already in their account before the product was loaded!
CALL THE NEXT STOP TO VERIFY BOTH ENDS OF A LOAD!
If you are an O/O or L/P and yeppers a company driver! Cell minutes are a whole lot cheaper than sitting someplace where you don't want to be sitting making NO MONEY! Screw the waiting game! Use the cell and call the end of the run you are heading towards.
Simple and pain free! -
KLLM frequently forgets the details, holiday or not. 1099 means paying to work not getting paid to work.
-
A.re you a KLLM recruiter in disguise? Companies being too greedy to pay payroll taxes is a good thing? A driver having to pay double taxes is good? Please enlighten me........CQ

Red Sovine... I so agree with you but I guess we live in LaLa land!
-
Oh... And yes... Otherhalf... I do believe the lease purchase driver knew all! Dumping the load on company driver was his agenda!
-
Calling the shipper/receiver because you want to do something outside of trucking is one thing, but, having to double-check and question all of the important details the company tells you is totally something else. I guess I worked under some really good staff when I drove because I rarely ever had those problems, in fact the one trucking company I worked for forbid the drivers to call the shippers and receivers for anything. The dispatch and load planners were responsible for getting me all of the correct info, if I had a problem I called the dispatch supervisor and problem was solved. The last company that I worked for I was on a dedicated account with 24 hour drop & hook delivery windows so I never had call and ask anyone when I could deliver. -
But you make it easy to look back and critique...kinda like an armchair quarterback on Tuesday morning after the Monday night game! -
Do you mean...Do I want to do anything besides just sit there like an ####### and hold a steering wheel and stare out the windshield?
To not actively participate in the process of getting the freight there in any way but to drive?
To not speak to anyone but a dispatcher about the load?
That to me is the picture of being a steeringwheel holder otherwise described as someone who is so dimwitted that they can't be trusted to talk to a customer on the phone!
NO THANKS!!
