now ill make this short , not really important anyway. i posted on breaks and mountains and stated if ytou go up in third gear thats the gear you need to go down in and some guy as where did i find a mountain that i had to pul in third gear wwell i forgot to answer the question so hear it is,
the mountain in question was located in provo utah and as a mater of fact i coldn't pull it in third gear had to get pulled to the top with a d9 cat. it was an adventure i delivered to a mine just a hole in the ground nothing else there then the dozer had to hook on to the back of the traileer and follow me bac k down so i wouldnt gain to much speed i could't hold it and the road well i call it a #### trail with a ditch on each side one wheel on the edge on each side, course i was grossing 130000 not somthing i would want to do again but it was an adventure.
and there are a few mountains like that left in the country you just haven't run across them yet it's not that im that old is just that your still young if you stay out here long enough you will run across just such a delivery and they never tell you what your going to get into till you get there unless of course you pull a van or reefer then i don't think i would advise it when you pull equipment and machinery it's not all that uncommon, just like trucking , just one more adventure
most of you have been taught to drive the interstate well when you get off the interstate you start to learn to drive and really learn what a truck can and can not do.
but you got time just keep at it and you will learn and you will find that age has little to do with it .
all have a great day. southernpride
try it somtime you will like it . southernpride![]()

What was the question?

OK....Got it!
I read what you said and I know what you mean...I have run on some crazy mountains over the years getting in and out of jobsites.
There's a development in California up on a hillside that I hauled some loads into a few years ago and to get up there you have a dirt road with a 3 mile 18% grade and then a couple'a short little grades that were steeper but only about 1/4 mile long.
I was glad to see that job end. -
Come out on a fire with me...
-
I hauled a few blades to fires in the 80's and took that truck where most guys wouldn't take a Jeep on a bet.
Ken Thanks this. -
With a heavy enough load, I bet you could find a hill that required 3rd gear.
Side note- blackw900, I've noticed your signature pic has been changing periodically and they've all been hitting the nail on the head. I'm looking forward to the next one. -
I have tons of old truck photos and it gives me a chance to share them with people that may or may not have been around to see some of that stuff...Glad you like them. -
No power steering, no a/c... -
